  1. You can cover the entire water column with the baits Glenn listed. As for my must have lures: 1. 3/8oz and 1/2oz jigs in green pumpkin or watermelon for clear water, and black/blue for murky water. I use SK baby rage craws, berkley chigger craws, zoom falt albert grubs, and the new Havoc skeets pit boss for trailers on my jigs. 2. 1/2oz lipless crankbaits - SK red eye shad, rattlin rapala, and the original rat-l-trap. Firetiger, bluegill and Chartreuse baitfish for murky water. I really only like throwing the silent red eye shads in clear water in clear ghost or chrome blue. 3. 5 inch Senkos in green pumpkin/black flake and watermelon/black flake for clear water, and green pumpkin/chartreuse tail for murky water. 4. 1/2oz Spinnerbaits - Strike king spinners in bluegill color or white for clear water, and chartreuse/white, firetiger, or black for murky water. I also like the bass pro shops lazer eye spinners, and the 1 dollar walmart spinners. 5. 10 inch powerworm in green pumpkin for clear water, and green pumpkin/chartreuse tail for murky water.
  2. I use 20# cxx with KVD line & lure conditioner and the line relaxes pretty well. I spray the spool down with the L&L about a half hour before my trip and it seems to work.
  3. I fish an extremely clear quarry, and if you throw something off colored the fish will literally run from the lure. Brown, green pumpkin, watermelon, and white are the only colors I've been bit on. With the exception of a SK bluegill colored spinnerbait.

  5. If you decide to go with the curado like hammer suggested. I would suggest looking at bass tackle depot or another sponsor, because you can usually find a curado for cheap. I actually just saw the curado for 143 at BTD. Sorry to hi-jack, but I've been looking at the 300e for a swimbait setup. How do you like it for that purpose? Also, what line are you using?
  6. I've used an improved clinch knot for over a year now with 12lb XPS fluorocarbon and have had 0 break offs. I just make sure the knot cinches down perfectly and has plenty of spit so it doesn't rub against itself.
  7. I put KVD line & lure conditioner on before every trip. The line doesn't coil as much, and it doesn't backlash as easy.
  8. I haven't had any problems with a blood knot and fluoro leader. I only wrap it 4 or 5 times instead of 7 though. Also, with the blood knot you can cut the tag ends flush with the knot.
  9. That really cracked me up... Thanks for the read A-Jay.
  10. You might want to try a Wacky tool, which basically puts a rubber ring around your bait. It holds the bait tightly and keeps it from getting torn apart.
  11. I learned how to bass fish from this website. Wether it was from the articles that are here, or the awesome members we have. I've always felt confident in the information on here, which has turned into confidence on the water.

When are we going to start holding knives and forks accountable for making us obese. I think plates are also to blame for allowing you to take more food with you at one time. Next thing you know, I won't be able to enjoy McDonalds every now and then because some retard doesn't know how to parent their child.

I basically throw a spinnerbait where weeds are too thick for me to effectively use a lipless crank. I also like to run it into tree stumps or whatever else I can see in the water. My personal experience is that 99% of my strikes come after I run the spinnerbait into something, or pull it through something. I also saw in a KVD video that when he's using a spinnerbait he said he'll give it little twitches here and there to make it seem like there is something wrong with the bait.
  14. My favorite thing to do when I go fishing is "accidentally" leave my phone in the car. It makes the fishing trip a lot more enjoyable. It's kind of sad to see how panicked people are when they can't instantly get a hold of you.
  15. Ow my face... why am i being dragged? OH GOD I CANT BREATHE... WHAT IS THAT HUGE ANIMAL?!!
  16. I like how when I'm fishing the only thing I think about is the fishing.
  17. I can't imagine casting a spro with any distance, or even setting the hook for that matter... with an ultralite.
  18. If the bass can't see the side of the bait that is half in and half out of the water, then how do they see me when I'm walking along the bank? I know it isn't possible for them to see the top of the bait, but why wouldn't they be able to see the side even where it is above water?
  19. The biggest problem with running 20# braid on a baitcast setup is the line digging into itself on the spool. When I first used braid, I put 20# power pro on a baitcaster. Which is actually a larger diameter than samurai, and I had a lot of problems with it digging in. Your cara should have alconite guides, so you shouldn't have to worry about the line cutting the guides.
  20. Caught this one on a redeye shad in chartruese bait: Caught this one on a redeye shad in bluegill color: I've had a couple 5+ fish days with a rattlin rapala in firetiger, but they were all under 4lbs. All fish were caught in less than 5 FOW by simply reeling and ripping the bait free from grass or weeds. Also, a slight pause after ripping it free seemed to elicit some strikes too.
  21. I have a 6'6" Medium power Fast action rod that I like for spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. I have a 7' MM premier that I got for shallow cranks and it was too whippy for me.
  22. Thanks for the replies, I can't wait to try some of those retrieves. I'm also going to try the E-Z Lure retriever. It looks like it will fit nicely in my backpack. I guess from the reviews on that retriever the winder breaks, but it seems like you can just hold the rope in your hand. I also don't have a problem swimming for lures, but a lake I fish frequently has zebra mussels.. I think I'll be alright as long as I don't try to climb out where there's a bunch of zebra mussels.
  23. I recently got my first pointer last weekend... and lost it to a submerged tree. In the 30 or so casts I had it I realized that you can make this bait do quite a few different things. The biggest one I noticed is that this bait will actually turn around. What are some other tricks with this bait, how exactly do you get it to turn around, and what are some retrieves you guys like to use? Also, even though I didn't catch anything and basically lost 15 dollars in 15 minutes I plan on buying a few more. I spent about 45 minutes trying to work the bait free before the line broke. I actually contemplated swimming for it but it was about 40 degrees out. Any recommendations on a lure retriever?
  24. Thank you for your service, and welcome home. Here is something that should help you if you're starting out. "Guaranteed To Catch A Bass http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-) " -roadwarrior.
  25. I would wait to see what other people have to say about it, before you actually apply it. I know that some line conditioners are actually corrosive to the line.
