  1. Went out fishing tonight and had a heck of a time tryin to get them to bite. Only caught one, but it was a solid 2.5-3 lber. I was casting out past about 15 feet of algae that was hugging the bank. Set the hook and all was well until she hit the vegetation. Pulled in about 4 pounds of algae with her and when I went to lip her I noticed blood coming out of the gills. Don't really know why. She was hooked kind of deep, but the hook came out easy. What I would like to know, is do bass that bleed like this usually survive? She was a decent one for this pond and it would suck to have it die. Wasn't too much blood, but it went all the way to the tail.
  2. A frog of your choice would be the best option.
  3. Awesome fish man.
  4. I would use 50# Power Pro. Braid is the best line to use IMO.
  5. Man, that 6 pounder looks like a beast!
  6. First of all, I'm extremly happy I caught this fish, but extremely mad at what happened after. When I got this thing on shore my hands were shaking so much from adrenaline and couldn't get a good picture with my phone. The quality is good, but the angle is crap. It looks like a three in the pic. What's even worse was that my scale was on the other side of the pond and I had to run over to get a weight. I ran over as fast as I could, but still couldn't get the weight. The fish really needed to get back in the water and I didn't want to risk killing it. Anyway, here is how the day went. Started off throwing a Rage Craw into some timber with no luck. Not even a tap. I then changed to an old white buzzbait that I've had since I started bass fishing. The day was great from then on. I caught three fish in about 30 minutes with the second being my Personal Best. Lost another that was as big, if not bigger, than the second fish. Got her up to the bank and she came off as I was about to lip her. I guess I can't really complain because I caught my new PB, but I didn't get a weight and the picture isn't worth a dam. This fish was closer to 6 than 5. For reference, I could fit my fist in this fish's mouth.
  7. WHAT? No Fireline recommendation?
  8. Haha, I like it.
  9. I don't think there is much to be done. The bass just "win" sometimes.
  10. Some good replies guys. I know none of this can be proven. It's just my opinion.
  11. Man that traffic at the Speedway was the worst I've ever been in.
  12. Heat index is up to 116 now and I'm about to go fishing.
  13. It's 90 here in Shelbyville, KY where I am now. The weather channel says with the heat index it feels like 107. Just got done laying cement and trimming every low branch in a 5 acre field. I am exhausted.
  14. Looks like you guys had fun. At least someone was puttin some big ones in the boat. I bet he thought that cat was his new PB!

Don't think there are northern pike in Mexico.
  16. Have you read any of the articles at the top of the page? They helped me a lot.
  17. It almost seems like everything today is bad for you.
  18. That's pretty cool. Does it usually stay by you guys? I can't imagine it knows its name if it wanders.

They will each outfish each other in certain situations. Neither bait is better than the other every time out. Most people say use a spinnerbait to find the fish, then throw the plastic. I usually fish Booyah and Strike King spinnerbaits, but that's just me. One thing for certain, spinnerbaits are certainly more fun to fish.
  20. Reel with my right hand on both spinning and casting.
  21. What did you get in English class? Sorry, but I had to.
  22. Try chewing for like a month straight. See if it doesn't mess your teeth, gums, and cheek up more than dip.
  23. Same for me. Baitcasting opened up a lot of new baits and techniques for me.
  24. I've been dipping for about two years now. Not that long, but it's already hard to stop. I can go without it for days or weeks, but I always end up coming back to it. I don't really regret it, but it does cost a lot of money. It is better than smoking in every way though IMO.
