I agree, getting old sux! > I turn 49 this year and I feel like I'm seventy. I have a herniated disk in my neck and one in my back :'( It's ridiculous sometimes trying to stand up from a bent over position. I'm 6'5 and that can be a long way to go when everything hurts. I also have type 2 diabetes and a condition called Meneries disease. Constant ringing in the ears and sometimes vertigo attacks that will knock me down but other than that life is good ;D My wife say's it's a good thing I'm not a dog or they would have put me down years ago :D

I just ordered my 1st baitcaster the other day. I do not have the money yet to get a bc rod. Can I use a spinning rod with this until I get the bc rod? By the way, what would be a good rod for say 50 bucks? :

Im glad to hear about that guy with the ugly stik because that is what I currently have. As a newbie I gotta tell ya it is very daunting to read about all these different types of rods and reels and line and lures.Good gracious I think I am getting lost in the forest because of the trees :-/ I actually thought I would just go out throw a line in the water and go fishing Now I find out that I need " this rod and reel combo for this fish and that rod and reel combo for that fish :'( Its enough to make a grown man crawl up in a small ball and sit in a corner and cry I was a golf teaching professional for 20 years and my number one piece of advice to a beginner was " if you've only got a $10 swing a $500 club is only going to do so much" :-[

Ok, help me out here. What the heck is the difference between a swim jig and a finesse jig, or a pro series jig and a hair jig? Good gracious how in the world does a neewbie like me determine which one to use and under what condition :-[ If you will excuse me I have to go lie down I've got a head ache

Pardon my ignorance but what is a hair jig and does anyone have a picture of one? :-/

I was thinking of picking up some jigs at BPS but the guy there said don't do it because the lake I normally fish has alot of vegetation. Do you guys agree or is this sound advice? He recommended that I stay with soft plastics and top water lures. :-?

I was at BPS the other day and one of the sales associates told me about a lake in my area that is only open on occasional Saturdays and only part of those days. He said the average fish caught is 3lb. I was really looking forward to trying this place out. So, got up with my 12 year old daughter and we headed out for a look see. Boy was I dissapointed, I was not expecting to see sooo much vegetation. Lily pads galore(not upset at that) but all kind of gunk on top and subsurface. Water was very shallow also. I tried a ribbit frog and then a wacky rigged senko, no luck. A guy and his kid were pulling in small sunfish and blue gill and a couple small smallmouth but not much else. The shore line only had a couple of places that were workable everywhere else hard to get to because of over growth. How would you guys fish this kind of environment? The volunteers at the check in site swear that the fishing is good but I don't see how. Also there are no boats allowed of any kind. :-/
