Yeah it's a great feeling to have confidence in a lure/technique. Plus this big old setup is a lot of fun to throw! Thanks for stopping through Big O! I look forward to seeing some more monsters from you!
  2. Man that's crazy - what a fish! How were you fishing the rage craw?

Thanks man! Yeah the weather's been kinda poor lately so I bet they're suspended somewhere - all schooled up by some ledge or something. If I could only find them I bet I could stick some decent ones! Caught the little guy off a weedline.

Got out last night for about an hour with my girl – convinced her to come out with me even though the weather was a little crappy. We threw on some extra layers and tried out a new spot that was supposed to have maybe some decent bass. The water was pretty calm and it was overcast so I decided to throw my big 6 1/2" topwater swimbait since I have gained some faith in it and love the wake action it gives and conditions seemed right. Ended up hooking into this little 1.5 lber that actually fought pretty hard. I was hoping it was a bigger bass lol but it's my first largemouth on my swimbait setup. My girl has problems taking pictures lol sorry so blurry Also got this pickerel to hit it. The fish up here are loving this bait!

  20. Well I went out yesterday to a new place from shore and caught my PB smallmouth, nothing huge but a decent size from shore – I’m new to catching them. And the cool thing was that it exploded on a 6” hardbody topwater swimbait and it was just a great strike and great action! The fish couldn’t have been over 13 inches and I was just amazed that it went after the big bait like that. I was with my girlfriend and didn’t have my phone on me and hers was acting up so I didn’t get a pic, which kinda put me in a bad mood lol to put it lightly I put it back in the water, still lipped, after waiting FOREVER in vain for my girl’s phone to take a pic, because I wanted to make sure it was ok but I wanted to weigh and measure it. But as soon as I put it in the water it shook free of my grip and so I didn’t get a chance to measure. It was stupid of me to do that but luckily I learned from my mistake. Went out today to a different spot that I heard had some smallmouths. I started out throwing that big swimbait but there were no bites. Had a pickerel chasing it but no bites. I downsized to a rapala minnow but still no strikes. Spinnerbait, nothing. So I had fished for about an hour and nothing. I figured if there were bass there they must be on the bottom right now so I tied on a football jig with a craw trailer. Pitched it a few times in a spot that looked like it might be good and worked it slowwwww. All of a sudden TAP TAP Hooked into my new PB smallmouth! Again not HUGE but 15” and got a pic this time lol Unfortunately my girl skunked and that was the only fish I got, though I had one more bite on the jig. There were a few other people fishing along the shore but I didn’t see anyone catch anything. I want to come back to this spot with my boat and see how I do.
  21. Sounds like fun man! Smallmouth can really fight I'm learning!
  22. Hey thanks man! Just got back from hitting the bank with my gf where I caught my pb smallie and a pickerel and some sunfish lol. Didn't have my phone on me and my girls phone was acting up so we didnt get pics The smallie wasnt that big but the biggest I've gotten so far. Maybe a pound. Crazy thing is it hit a 6 inch topwater hardbody swimbait lol and hit it HARD. I was just basically practicing casting my swimbait setup and wasn't really expecting a strike. The pickerel came on a little rapala and the sunfish came on a bubble and fly rig that I was trying out for the first time. Weird way to fish but it worked pretty well
  23. Can't believe no one's responded to this man! Great fish! Pretty Chunky!! It's cool you got a chick from work to go fishing with you too man!!
  24. Looking around the map I saw this little pond I hadn’t tried yet that was pretty close by. So I packed up and took off to check it out. The access was a little sketchy but I ended up pulling into what looked like an abandoned camp. Probably a summer camp that hadn’t been used in a little while. No private property signs or anything like that at all. Anyway it had great access to the shore and there was a nice trail going along the bank. Caught a few little guys right around 12 inches, but couldn’t hook into anything bigger. The pond is supposed to be pretty good for smallies but all I saw was lmb. They were around submerged wood all along the shore. Caught em on cranks and my spro. I hope to get back out there sometime and see if I can find something bigger.
