Deep - yeah man that was my first subsurface swimbait strike I've been doing pretty well with my Mickey Sr topwater - but now I have a little more confidence in throwing traditional hudds. I need to get some 8" ones though, I only have 6" and bet the 8" swim much better. ChiCityBasser - Nice man that's a good idea. I try to keep most of that information in my head and I bet writing it down somewhere might prove to be helpful. I might try that in the future!

Got out for a few hours with my girl today. She was having great luck on a curly tail zoom worm – she stuck two really nice bass, which made the day worth it. I was throwing a huddleston swimbait most of the day and got my first hud strikes, but didn’t hook up with any swimbait fish. I switched over to a finesse jig for a few pitches around some timber and punked the skunk with this little 2 lber. The heat wave finally broke and it was nice to get out on the water.

Yeah the heat was pretty intense (mid 80's) and my dog didn't seem to be able to get too comfortable. I think I'll wait till it cools down and I have decks installed on the boat to bring him back out again. Depth finder is helping a lot - used it today to find a dropoff with some underwater weeds where I hooked into this nice chunky guy. Went a hair under 3 lbs at 2.86 for my pb lmb of the season Thanks for stopping by the thread!

took the dog out for a couple hours to see how he'd like being out on a boat - nothing deep but eventually ran into a little jig bite by some fallen timber and pulled a few more small guys out. Think I may have had a big one on a worm but of course it spit the hook Something about the way I'm fishing plastics lately has me missing lots of hooksets. Here's the munchkins

sounds like a great time out - try a different hosting site like tinypic or pbucket - they're much more reliable and you can determine the size of your pics so they don't show up as tiny thumbnails

lol that's classic - I have a pic like that with a bluegill hanging from a flatfish bigger than the bluegill itself. Look forward to the bass pics - thanks for sharing!

lol thanks guys for commiserating with me on losing my probable PB lol no matter - onwards and upwards Got a chance to get out tonight for the usual 1 1/2 hour stint - wanted to try a different body of water so we went to a local lake that is supposed to have some decent smallies. It was a good chance for me to mess around with the depth finder and look for humps and dropoffs to fish because I figured the smallies are probably deep nowadays. Didn't do that great but caught a little guy that wasn't pic worthy on a dropshotted curly tail grub in 17 ft of water. It was MAYBE a lb. But I'm enjoying the challenge of catching fish out in the middle of the water as opposed to fishing weedlines and bank structure that I can see. I feel that I'm on the verge of figuring a few things out about fishing deep water. So really I had a great time out there
