  1. I really like Trilene sensation as far as mono/copoly goes. Lately I've been getting into Sunline flourocarbon, which can be found relatively inexpensive at certain places. I also like suffix siege and seaguar. I forgot yo-zuri hybrid, hi could I forget that?
  2. I'd use #12 to #14 mono or Co poly, namely, Trilene sensation, yo-zuri hybrid, or suffix siege.
  3. Job security at its finest ?
  4. I actually just found a JDM zillion for $172 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Daiwa-JDM-Zillion-TW-TWS-1516-Baitcasting-fishing-reel-magsealed-Select-Models/142232826388?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D52935%26meid%3De6b98a35ade643b29c7f95a89ba6436a%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D142484170974%26itm%3D142232826388&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 Edit: I freaking bought it; if I end up hating it, I'll send it back. I am still looking for a second reel, I think I'll try out this new zillion to replace my Revo SX that I'm trying to get rid of.
  5. what did you end up getting?
  6. Yeah, I don't have a boat other than a kayak, which I am trying to get rid of in the fishing flea market. I do have access to others with boats, though. Thanks, I will take a look. I do still love my ole Curado 200E Thanks for the suggestions guys, looks like I got quite a bit of research to do. Keep em comin.
  7. I'm not a machine shop worker, more of a garbage collector, but in my case the garbage is crack heads and people that make poor life decisions.?
  8. Awesome, I took my state officer certification exam in DeLand. Just let me know. Did you happen to know if any JDM Diawa reels in the price range I'm looking for?
  9. The fun thing about Texas rigging is it's modularity. There's really no right or wrong with it. I love to experiment with different aspects of the t rig, sometimes I'll change my weight up, sometimes I'll turn it into a FL rig and peg the weight, other times I'll let it slide freely. Sometimes I'll use a straight shank hook, other times an ewg. To get back on the topic, yes you can throw it weightless, but there's no harm in trying different weights either. This is my absolute favorite rig to fish, along with jigs.
  10. I really love my Lunkerhunt frogs, mainly the pocket frog, lunker frog, and combat frog. I also really like my Kopper's live Target frogs. I do have a SPRO popping frog that works well too. If you take a look at the Lunkerhunt stuff, they do have a starter set that has a little of everything from them.
  11. Well if you're down here for a visit let me know, we can meet up and fish or if I'm working you can come for a ride along ?
  12. I had a bad experience with a spinning reel from them, the anti reverse was pretty much non existent. That paired with being inexperienced at the time and taking advice of other inexperienced people. Just turned me off them. Edit: I do like those red and black Diawas, they would fit well with the rod I'm getting. Are there any Japanese made Diawas that are within the price range?
  13. Do they only come in LH? I need a RH. I swear if that bait monkey comes at me again I'm taking him to jail. I've seen the Tatula CT-R on sale on TW looks interesting, but I was turned off of Diawa when I first got heavy into fishing. Should I give them a second chance?
  14. Lol, thanks, yeah I guess let's keep it under $190.
  15. I find that my G. Loomis MBR843C is an outstanding jig rod. When I throw a jig on braid with a flouro leader, I can literally feel the blades of grass or the cracks of the rocks the jig is going through or over. I got mine on sale a long time ago, if you are looking for something that won't break the bank, take a look at the Falcon Bucoo series or Dobyns Fury series. Best general jig fishing setup though is going to generally be a 7' MH or H fast action rod. I like my jig setup to have braid as the main line with a flourocarbon leader.
  16. Yup, I pulled it out of the box after having just paid for it. Started reeling it, testing the smoothness, really giving it a once over before leaving. After a couple of simulated casts, it started grinding, then I heard a pop and the spool no longer reeled when turning the handle. So I immediately took it back in and traded it out for a Shimano Core, best trade ever, lol.
  17. Hello guys and gals, So the black friday bait monkey attacked me this morning, i'm recovering, however, he threatened to batter me if I don't find a reel for the new rod I bought.? The rod is a Kistler 2018 KLX 6'9" MH F as seen here: http://www.kistlerrods.com/store/fishing-rods/klx-fishing-rods/klx-fishing-rods/texas-carolina-worm-jig-rods/klx-texas-carolina-rig-worm-jig-medium-heavy-6-9-fishing-rod.html#.W_b5f-hKguU This will probably be an all purpose set up for me, throwing soft plastics, jigs, maybe some light spinner baits. Anyone have some reel recommendations, otherwise I'll go back to my old ways and pick up another Shimano.
  18. I'm sorry to thread Jack the OP, but where did you find that deal? Been wanting a rod with an NFC blank, but there always super expensive. That's doable though. Edit: nevermind I just got a KLX for $140 off Kistler's website. Looking forward to putting that NFC reputation to the test. Dangit now I gotta find a reel?
  19. I was turned off of quantum a while back when I picked up a brand new PT, think it was a smoke or exo, that literally broke in the car when I was still in the parking lot of the BPS that I had just bought it at. I have since given them a second try, got a super cheap deal on one of their spinning reels that I couldn't pass on. It seems to work well, very smooth. I've heard several times it's really hit or miss with quantum's QC.
  20. I like the sweet beavers from RI, you should also check in to the pit boss from havoc. I also like the Yamamoto Kreature and Havoc Hawk Hawg.
  21. Make sure to check your soft plastic bags for any holes or leaks. Switch out non serviceable bags with some good quality zip lock bags, preferably something resistant to chemicals. Bags that leak attractant, ect., can eat the plastic in your storage boxes. That being said, I'd pick up a soft plastics binder/bag to organize them in. The other stuff I'd put in regular ole Plano boxes, and the stuff you really don't care for is either try to sell or toss it.
  22. I might take a look, thanks. Lol, I hear ya, I'll look into that. You wouldn't happen to have any contacts from when you worked there to get ahold of to help with that, would you? Good to see your still here Sam, thanks.
  23. LOL, just cause I have access doesn't mean I should use it. ? Mosaic usually doesn't like outsiders on their property, I recently worked a case where problems arose between a Mosaic and CSX worker. I do think there are some old Mosaic ponds in Mulberry though that are open access.
  24. I have a dedicated setup for weightless lures. It's a St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass "Teaser" rod with a Abu MGX. The thing can cast even the lightest weightless lures a mile, it's super sensitive. If you want to shell out the money for it, then I think you'd be extremely pleased with it, for what you are trying to accomplish.
  25. I've never had a GLX so can't really comment on it's performance, other than the one that roadmaster allowed me to use once was outstanding. Now I do own an NRX 803C paired with a Shimano Core and a G. Loomis IMX MBR 843C paired with a Curado 200E7. I have to say I prefer my IMX for jigs and bottom contact lures, to the NRX. It just seems like I get a crisper feel for things from the IMX with that kind of lure. Now, I prefer my NRX for all things Texas/Florida rigged and is really my dedicated soft plastic setup.
