I saw my Walmart got KVDs, SK jigs, falcon rods, etc in too. Bout time they got in some decent stuff!

I personally choose BPS's XPS Fluorocarbon, I have had good luck with it. I have heard great things about Sunline Super FC Sniper Fluorocarbon though. For a good fluorocarbon or at least decent, you're going to spend at least $20 for it. I would recommend mono backing line on each of your reels, so that you aren't wasting any fluorocarbon line. While I love my XPS fluoro, I'll be making the switch to Sunline next, after hearing good things. Remember...the line is the only thing between you and the fish, so choose wisely!

I try one of two things - a dropshot or jerkbait. I can usually pick up on a slow bite with a DS.

I would say you did good for your first day. I'd be more than happy with some 3lbers. With it being as chilly as it has been lately, it's getting a little bit harder to see what they're biting on. As most Floridians know, our bass tend to shut down during colder weather. You should try some of Chris's(Northstar Custom) hair jigs around this time, I always kill em on those. I have seen a ton of spawning beds on the canals lately, but no one is home yet. Can't wait for the spawn, it's gonna be killer!

I must had of cast out the same bait 20 or 30 times, I would get a follow, but no bite. On my about 30th cast, I got the bite. The bass just went nuts...thrashing all over! Not a bad bass at all for the canal I fish. If I had to guess I would say she was a little over 2 lbs, as I didn't bother weighing her, I just wanted to release her as quickly as possible. I also noticed some bite marks on her back fin -- I'm thinking either a gar or pickerel got a good bite of her when she was smaller. Who can guess what bait is in her mouth? It's probably an easy guess .

Question for the people using the st-36s -- why not the 41s?

I personally use the Mustad KVD Elite Trebles. Owners are good hooks too. As SirSnook mentioned, it's all pretty much objective. I'm pretty sure mirrolures use VMCs.

I always use white jigs with a white craw(white so that I can see them in the water). I do pretty well on those, you just have to make sure you use a craw trailer that isn't easily torn, as generally the bass will pick the bait up by the claws and spit it out of the nest. I also always have good luck with a Strike King Rodent...it's a pretty sturdy bait that's hard to tear.

I use a good pair of needle nose pliers to remove the pin in my reels. You just have to very careful to not bend the pin.

Not to start a war, but I'm sure JF is very thorough on cleaning his parts, so I think you may be mistaken there. I also don't think he would be on here giving tips to other people if he didn't know what he was doing. Also, quantum hot sauce is not 100% synthetic, it is a BLEND. I'm glad I did buy into the stuff, that's all I'm going to say. Everyone just has different opinions on the stuff, that is all.

I buy 700yds of zebco omniflex 12lb mono. You can get it dirt cheap at walmart.

I have heard it is half decent from some of the locals here in Lehigh, but they say it's also really infested with gators. I personally haven't tried it out yet. From what I gathered too, they say to only take an air boat as well. What part of FM are you in? I live at least 45mins from Okeechobee and I only live less than 4 miles down from 80. Go one street up from my house and I am in Alva. 2 streets east and go across the bridge and I'm in Hendry County. Still can't get the parents convinced to take the pontoon out there though..! Have you had the chance to try it out yet?
