Remember Your First Bass?
I was too young to remember mine. My parents had me fishing before my first birthday, just sitting on a sandbar in my diaper holding a full sized spincasting combo and watching a bobber. Some of the first ones I can remember I caught on road runners when I was probably 4 or 5 in my grandparents pond.

New H2O Xpress Ethos Nano
Good to know. I've been considering getting an Ethos cranking rod, maybe I'll hold off until I find out if the ones I have are going to last or not.

Do You Have A Favorite Fishing Hat?
My buddy Jon (basshunter0731) forgot his fishing hat a couple years ago, for some reason he had this in his truck.

American Hustle
I have to agree with FFI, wasn't impressed with the movie at all, especially with all the media hype.

Topwater Rod
I'm with everyone else on this, you're looking for 2 rods. If you absolutely must make it work with 1 rod, then I'd go with a 7' MH/F of whatever rod you prefer.

New H2O Xpress Ethos Nano
Just curious if you've ever fished the Ethos rods? I've never fished either of the rods you named so I can't speak from experience with those but I do have 2 of the Ethos micro guide rods and for the $60 I paid for both of them (or at full retail honestly) they're extremely nice rods. Both of them are in the starting line up right along with all my St. Croix LTB's (nice that the color is close too ) Just wondering what you didn't like about the Ethos that is better in those other 2 line ups?

Homemade Chatterbaits
If you have any weedlines or any kind of cover I like to run them around that stuff. One of the lakes I fish is very clear and I do well with a solid white one with a bright chartreuse trailer. You can use them to cover water on large flats like you would with a spinnerbait as well. Get a fairly heavy one and move it quickly so they don't get a good look at it. Natural colors are another good option.

Clear Water Experts...
Generally smaller baits work well in clear water, especially if the fish receive much pressure. Natural colors are usually best but if you have smallmouths don't be afraid to use bright chartreuse, something about it drives clear water smallmouths nuts at times.

Topwater, When And What Kinds?
Poppers or propbaits for fishing targets because they can be kept in the strike zone a long time walking baits for cover water in clearer water buzzbaits for covering water in stained to muddy water Obviously very generalized and plenty of exceptions but that's how I start my selection process.

Riddle Me This
I usually only pick topwaters by if it's light, dark, or flashy. I like to have one of each of those and don't get too worried about having one of every other color.

A 3lb smallie is a blast!- Best Lake In Your State
Wow so many great bass fishing lakes in Kansas, how do I narrow it down to only one?? I'd probably have to go with Milford, big smallies and largemouths and good numbers of both. It's tops for smallies for sure, for just largemouth I'd have to go with La Cygne or Perry though.- What Is The Coldest Water That You Will Fish In That Is Not Iced Over?
As long as it isn't frozen I'll fish. When it's right after ice out I like to find rock banks with deep water near the bank. I've caught fish from the bank when part of the lake was still iced over.- For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Your pond was awesome, but the ones I'm talking about are the walk in fishing ponds. A vast majority of them suck badly, so this one is one of those rare gems that's actually worth fishing. I have a couple new ones to try this year whenever I get around to it. I'm pretty sure I have your brush jig mold but that's the only one I can think of. What's the other one you're missing and I'll look next time.- Finally Something To Report!
It's 100% by trail and error and feel. I've just done it enough times I know when it's bent enough. The good thing is you can bend more or less if it doesn't have the action you like. I put about 1/4" of the blade in some heavy duty bull nose pliers to bend them. That Stick O doesn't look exciting when you put it on but the fish sure seem to love it.- Finally Something To Report!
I really like it too but it's just plated so it chips off. I think If I sealed them with some epoxy it would help though.- Need Help Wit A Kansas Lake
Natural colors, flashy if it's sunny, dull if it's not.- Need Help Wit A Kansas Lake
Pretty much any rocky point on the eastern half of the lake with a jerkbait should be getting good by now with the warming water temps. The dam is good provided you can get past the swarms of walleye boats I'm sure are parked there right now and the white bass aren't loaded up there hitting anything that moves yet. Wiggle Wart style cranks can be good but the zebra mussels shred line so be ready to retie very often if you do that.- For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Yeah and so far I've found about 3 that are worth fishing, that's why the vagueness The main reason for the head change was the hooks on the football heads is pretty small. I've never had a problem with them but it was a concern for Raymond and since it's his store I changed them. I do love the new hooks though, those 6/0 Eagle Claws are extremely sharp and could double as a gaff if you needed them too. Since I made the switch I've lost far fewer fish with them than I did with the football heads.- For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
a FISH pond.- For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Boys they were tearing up the home made bladed jigs today! That last one was the biggest of the day, 4lbs 6ozs. They were crushing the bait, slack lining me on the strike so I was having to reel like crazy just to keep up with them and I lost several like that and missed a few that slammed it but didn't get the bait. Retrieving it very, very slowly after letting it sink to the bottom at the start of the cast. - First Smallmouth
