Smallmouth On Missouri River
Are you thinking about fishing one of the streams that run into the Missouri or the river itself? I've never heard of smallmouths being in the Missouri River that far south but maybe I'm missing something. As far as I know, you'd have to go to Nebraska to get into any smallmouths in the Missouri River.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Wacky rig is the way to go for kids, pinch the barb down for you and the fish because he's sure to deep hook a few. For me the areas around the rock fishing piers and the dam. I've done well on cranks and they'll work for him too but then you have to worry about a set of trebles flying around the boat.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
We only managed one in an hour 2 weeks ago too. If you really just want to catch fish go to Douglas State Lake in Baldwin City. It's LOADED with dinks and rarely a bigger fish. Basshunter0731 and I took his 5 year old out there this summer and his son caught 21 bass his first time out in the boat. 100 fish in a day is not really that difficult if they're biting a little bit.

Catchin' The Bigguns In La Cygne
I plea to the fifth I've fished the lake so much I should know it better than I do. I would say the rock walls to the west of the outlet are my most consistent producing areas. Dark colored worms on a shakyhead, bigger baitfish colored jerkbaits, squarebills, deep cranks, or traps are the most consistent producing baits. I like the river from the mouth to the bridge and sometimes way past the bridge. Dark tubes, beavers, squarebills, traps, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits are my go to baits back there. The flat to the south of the outlet occasionally gets loaded up with fish, traps, spinnerbaits, and swimbaits get most of my best fish there. The outlet is great at times and pretty much anything will work there at one time or another. The riprap to the north of the outlet can be good at times with squarebills and traps. The rocks and coves by the main boat ramp are very consistent producers with squarebills, spinnerbaits, and traps. The big cove at the southwest end of the lake around the inlet/culvert gets loaded up when the shad spawn in the fall and a spinnerbait is all you need all day. I've done well on the dam from the outlet and to the east, usually on traps. The rocks around the inlet is hit or miss. La Cygne has accounted for way more fish over 7 pounds than any other body of water in the state for me. 7.76lbs at the rocks by the main lake boat ramp on a chart/black back Spro Fat John early march 2013 7.51lbs at the outlet on a green gizzard shad Strike King Series 5 7lbs 2ozs flat point south of the outet on a tennessee shad colored Strike King King Shad 7lbs at the outlet on a Voodoo Xcaliber Erratic Shad 7lbs off the east side of the dam on a gold/black back Xcaliber XR50 One thing I've never figured out on La Cygne is how to get them to eat a jig! I could count on 2 hands and have fingers left the numbers of bass I've caught on jigs at La Cygne.

Missing Fish On Hookset... Jig/trig
It wasn't just you, everyone was missing fish Saturday. I missed what I'm assuming was the same fish 4 or 5 times under the same dock before I gave up on it. The 40 degree swing overnight had them short striking badly. We missed a lot of fish on jigs and even the ones we hooked were barely hooked. It was a common problem all around.

Catfish "wels" Caught On Artificial Lures
Catfish do love artificial baits at times, at least the ones we have in the states. I bet those big Wels cats are hard to get off the bottom if they don't want to move.

Wow I Can't Believe It
New hooks doesn't equal good hooks. Lots of companies put cheap hooks on their baits to keep them at a certain price point. Very few baits that I buy don't get upgraded hooks right out of the package and Rapalas certainly aren't going to keep the hooks they come with on the rare occasion I buy a Rapala bait.

Back From Table Rock
Table Rock is a blast and has some monster smallies. I've never been lucky enough to catch a big smallmouth down there but get some nice ones in the local lakes pretty regularly, they pull way harder than largemouths for sure.

Not A Bass But...............
Very clean looking blues. I wish I had more time to chase them, I love catching those big blue cats! I caught my new personal best blue and flathead on the same day last year. I was fishing by myself and had no net, I was worn out by the end of the fight with those two!

Gear Ratio For Swimjigs And Spinnerbaits
If I was getting one reel to do both I'd go with the 6. If you can afford both I'd get the 6 for spinnerbaits and the 7 for swim jigs.

Rod Suggestions For Umbrella Rig
What's it rated to? It would probably work as long as you aren't throwing a real heavy rig on it.
-
Why Cant I Walk The Bronzeye Frog?!
Without a doubt the flouro is killing the walking ability of the bait. I fish mine on 50# braid without cutting the legs or modifying the bait at all and it walks like a champ. I'd suggest a longer, stronger rod also, not to make it walk better, just to haul fish out of heavy cover better.

Swimbaits In Nova?
Swimbaits will work anywhere bass eat small fish. I'd suggest getting a couple proven baits in proven colors and just going fishing. The 6" BBZ 1, 6" River 2 Sea S Waver, 7" MS Slammer, 6" Huddleston, Black Dog Shellcracker, are all proven baits that won't break the bank and are easy to fish and catch fish of all sizes.

Would You Say There Are Any Big Fish Here?
I second the big swimbait, either a bluegill or baby bass imitator. If there are any bigger bass that should find one of them for you. It sounds to me like they may be stunted though and if that is the case you'll need to remove a lot of the smaller bass from the pond. Big bass can grow in very small bodies of water. A friend of mine has a pond I can literally cast across in most parts of it but we've both caught fish approaching 7lbs out of it.

How Many State Fishing License Do You Have For 2013

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
I believe it's a bunch of concrete barriers. If it's where I think it is there's a bunch of other stuff around it just to the south of it. I've caught lots of smallmouth and a surprising number of largemouth off of it. I don't know what the name of the cove is but out from the mouth of the furthest northeast cove by the dam is where the hump and brush I'm talking about is at.

Do You Risk Not Getting A License?
So the guy I'm assuming got arrested for fleeing and eluding and obstruction so his buddy wouldn't get a ticket??

New Pb On A Swimbait!
For that first couple seconds after she hit it I had that glimmer of hope that I'd hooked some kind of freak bass, but I knew there was no way it was a bass.

Re: Wyandotte County Lake
Is it on the beach? I think I was a little vague to consider that giving someone a spot but I'd still like to see it on side imaging or down imaging.
