  1. Even with them bending, War Eagles have been pretty durable for me. I have them get like this one where the wire looks like it's about to pull out of the head and they're still going, although it didn't last long after I took this picture.
  2. I catch tons of fish on lipless baits, big ones too. ^RES 2tap in Rayburn Red in February. Ended up being my biggest of the year that year.
  3. Same ones I fish the rest of the warm weather months, War Eagle. Color and blade combinations depends on water clarity and conditions.
  4. Winter time is the only time that I crank a lot. My favorites are the Berkley Frittside, 6th Sense Flat 75X, Strike King KVD HC flat side 1.5, Berkley Flicker Shad Shallow, Shad Raps, and a custom made balsa crank.
  5. Is it a specific issue to the fastach clips?
  6. I don't think I've ever seen anyone refer to very clear water as "gen" clear? It's always been the proper term of gin clear. Either way, I don't like the sound of fishing water that's extremely clear.
  7. Youtube videos can't be deemed promotional. Watermarks and logos make them cross the line into promotional.
  8. Been using them for about a year but haven't talked about them. Since they're going away not worried about it anymore though.
  9. Better get them quick, pretty sure they're discontinued.
  10. It happens occasionally, both with muskie and pike.
  11. If you're using one rod for everything, I'd use mono.
  12. Yeah, cause dinky little jerkbaits only catch dinky little smallmouth, like this one I caught on a Rozante 77. When they're eating those emerald shiners or other small, thin profile baitfish, a bigger jerkbait just doesn't do it for them a lot of the time.
  13. I'm a junk fisherman so I tend to have a rod for everything with me.
  14. Almost chilly out this morning when I got off work. Wind was blowing all the weeds into my normal bank fishing spot. I tried but they were too thick for the 2 baits I brought. Moved to a different spot and had a small one follow my swimbait, he was all over the weightless plastic I followed it up with. Couple cast later with the swimbait, I got a skinny, big headed fellow that needs to stop eating fake stuff so he can gain some weight.
  15. I hope it is. I'll be on Perry this weekend for our championship and looking for smallies first.
  16. I think the BOYO is going to work on casting gear and in rougher conditions than the puppy. I'll know in a couple days.
  17. I use a bunch of those also, but the Bad Mamma was a much thicker bodied bait. Made it a really good punching bait because there was a lot of body to hide a big hook in a compact offering.
  18. We took ours younger than that and they loved it. Ear muffs are a must. We've been twice actually, it was a big hit both times.
  19. I've watched a little bit of Kids in the Hall, but it was just a bit odd even for me. I've almost subscribed to Hulu several times just so I can watch Letterkenny.
  20. If you're going to use a natural bait like shad, use the freshest possible. Bluegill love corn also, and will easily steal it from a carp hook. Turtles, crawdads, and bluegills will all eat hotdogs, I'm sure brats are no different. Learning takes time, don't feel bad about asking others for help.
  21. Watch those guys fishing reports. Don't come with expectations of catching crazy numbers of fish. Lots of pressure on a typically clear water lake makes for tough fishing. Fishing a dropshot next to bridge pilings is about the only sure thing, even better if you get some fat nightcrawlers and drop those instead of plastic, but you have to be okay with multispecies fishing. Usually getting out early and staying out late are best for me this time of year down there. I'm typically with family and pretty much skip fishing the midday as it's usually a tough deal.
  22. Different kinds of bobber stops can be used. If it's going to be passing through your line guides, I'd opt for the string type instead of the rubber stoppers. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Thill_Bobber_Stops_6pk/descpage-TBOBS.html
  23. Sounds like one I use have have by Shimano called a "Bullwhip". It didn't have a metal reel seat that I can remember though. That's the rod I learned to jig fish with, pistol grip and everything.
  24. If I was getting the top of the line, I'd go with the St. Croix Legend Glass. I don't crank with a spinning rod quite enough to drop that much coin on one though, so I opted for the Falcon Bucco SR 7' M/M spinning rod. It fishes 1.0 size squarebills and shad rap style baits very nice as well as small jerkbaits. I've caught lots of good fish with it and would have no issues purchasing another.
  25. I use 8lb Tatsu on my shakyhead rod, it's very manageable, no need for any sprays or anything. I fish in extremely cold conditions too which would make it a real issue if there was any memory.
