  1. Bullhead, channels, and blues are a no-no to grab by the mouth. Flatheads are fine to grab by the jaw. Those first 3 all have crushing bite force and their tooth pads come together instead of having the underbite a flathead does, so they crunch down on your fingers with those sandpaper teeth with vice grip strength and start rolling and thrashing. Big blues will break your wrist doing just that. I know a lot of guys will grab big blues by the mouth, but you better have a glove on if you want to keep any skin on your hand.
  2. I have one I bought for muskie. Only fish I've ever caught on it was a small largemouth though.
  3. I see Koi pretty frequently in the city lakes. One of these days, I'm going to catch one slipping while I'm bowfishing.
  4. It's something to do with new experiences. The less new experiences you have, the more your days run together and time seems to go faster. So the older you get, the less new things there are for you to experience, the faster your days seem to go by. At least that's how it was explained to me. I just can't believe we're halfway through July already ?
  5. A huge hammerhead would be something else. I'm really just hoping for anything, a smedium sized bull shark would be perfect. My boys are always going on about catching a shark anytime we go fishing, I'd really like to get to make it happen.
  6. I had to take an online class since we're fishing from the beach for them and we we will have a guide also.
  7. I can't help but try to sightfish a big gar whenever I see one. Getting them to bite is extremely easy, hooking them is almost impossible. I didn't think it through this weekend throwing a hollow body frog at one, that frog no longer floats ?
  8. Finally got me one of these high dollar Storm swimbaits ?
  9. I had nothing but trouble with Super Slick. Random breakoffs on the hookset when flipping weeds with a new spool of 50lb. I'd never give it another try after my first experience with it.
  10. I know a couple of my buddies get them and like them. I like to choose my own gear so I've never subscribed to those things.
  11. A chartreuse split tail trailer on a white spinnerbait is my #1 smallmouth spinnerbait combo.
  12. Push them out to the camera, I want to see the fish, not your ugly mug! ?
  13. Took some looking but I found what I was after. Shore based shark fishing, New Smryna Beach, FL. Got my Shore Based Shark fishing class done, license bought, just hoping that we'll find one that wants to play ?

    Welcome!
  15. Never, has to touch the bottom for them to pick it off the bottom and mine never do.
  16. What rod are you planning on throwing it on? I've been using a 6' 10" MH but even that feels underpowered.
  17. Whoever made this hasn't ever ran into a cloud of "up north" mosquitos. They've only got a few months to work with and they're going to make them count. I'll never forget when my dad and I went to Canada on a fishing trip. We drove into one lake and the truck was swarmed before it ever came to a stop. You know when it starts pouring outside and you're in your car and have to make a mad dash for whatever building you're going to? That's what we did except it was to the little boat we were fishing out of that day. Even running the boat off the bank at full speed didn't help, they just settled into the bottom of the boat and waited for us to stop before they attacked again. Thankfully, the fishing was good or it would have been a nightmare.
  18. I've had them many years ago before the update when they were just black, plastic looking reels in blister packs. They're serviceable reels and you'll get your $20 worth out of them.
  19. I was fishing it on a Dobyn's Fury 795/300E/20lb Big Game. I tried all kinds of different retrieves but only ever caught 2 very small fish on it, not even sure what retrieve I was using when they bit. For whatever reason, with gill baits, I can get bit on wakes and soft baits, but segmented baits are a complete flop.
  20. Getting close to Redbug color, one of my favorites.
  21. People who say that don't adjust with the fish. Big fish still eat during the summer months, but you can't fish spring, spawning areas and expect to catch summertime fish.
  22. Hard to tell but it's the risk you run in this sport. Do it long enough and you'll kill a big one on accident. Have a plan to either get a mount done or know someone that will eat it if you won't yourself so it doesn't go to waste.
