Mono for Crankbaits?
I use either mono or copolymer for cranks. Fluoro isn't needed for them IMO and just a waste of money.

Ned rig jig heads
Tungsten requires too high temperature to melt recreationally. I have the Midwest Finesse 1/16oz mold and have used hooks as small as #6 in it.

A closer look at the I Wing Triple Fry and comparison to the I Wing Fry.
Those look sweet! Crawlers are so much fun to fish.

Jig fishing water clarity?
The dam end of Table Rock is pretty dang clear typically. Caught this one on a 7/16oz Jewel PB&J jig in 40-50 of water. That's how we caught all our fish that weekend when not even the guides were catching fish.

Soft Plastics That Don’t Work
Biffle Bug and Fat Ika. I can count on one hand the number of fish I've caught on those 2 baits and it's not for lack of trying.

When The Panfish Drive You Crazy
Saturday they were running off with a 7" stick worm, 11" mag straight tail worm, 1/2oz jig, didn't matter. If it wasn't them, it was the dang catfish eating everything, even trying to eat my frog. Lake is loaded with trees so you have to pull it away from them or they'll pull you into a snag in a heartbeat, it was really frustrating.

Addicted to Punch (ing)
I've had good luck with them this year as well. I also like the Berkley Pitboss, Rage Bug and Rage Menace, and the Big Bite Baits Yomoma.

I'm a believer in the dark sleeper!
I've gone through 3 of them and haven't caught a fish with them yet. Last one got ripped to shreds and the head pulled out, never did hook a fish with it.

Struggling to convert bites...
Had no less than a half dozen bass jump and toss or just pull off a jig or T-rig Saturday, the last one was a big, big. No idea why, just one of those things that happens sometimes.

ID of Fry Ball
It sure does look similar to this.

The right spot or the right bait???
Had this situation last week. Slow morning, finally got a bite flipping and caught a small one that threw my bait off. Switched colors and caught fish the next 3 pitches (all off the same group of trees). Thought I'd really figured the bait out. After thoroughly working that area and moving on, I caught no more fish on my new color. I'd found the right spot, the color didn't make any difference.

Swirls everywhere at Dusk
So many things that can make swirls on the surface of a lake. Fact of the matter is, even if they were bass, if you tried everything and they didn't bite, no reason to waste anymore time trying to get them to bite. The more than likely truth is, they were carp, gar, panfish, shad, or some other species of fish that was causing the swirls and that's why they wouldn't bite.

Hmm, I've only been twice but didn't have any issue catching fish either time.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Couple small Walters from the kayak this morning. One on a beaver flipping a tree, the other on a shallow flat on a Ned rig.

Has anyone found they are happy with non high end rods and reels
I've got some combos that are under $100 for the whole setup, and some in the 600-700 range. I like them all and they all serve their purpose. I've been really happy with my Daiwa Arid X rods, H2O rods, Daiwa CC80 reels, Daiwa Revros and Eliminators.

Want to try a "different" line...
I would not suggest straight fluorocarbon for letting baits sit for catfish. It sinks and has a tendency to find it's way into rocks and around snags that result in lost rigs and fish. Nanofil has terrible abrasion resistance, so I wouldn't suggest it for bottom fishing either. I haven't fished Super Natural, but of the 3 you're considering, that would be my choice.

ISO MB jerks+1 Jr.
I've got 1 Northern Secret and 1 Spawn Cherry, both snagged by a good buddy that I don't think does anything but search the web for hard to find baits. No idea where he found them unfortunately, he doesn't even share those secrets with me.

Feathered Treble Hooks
WalMart just started carrying some Eagle Claw feathered trebles recently. I've put some on a couple poppers to replace the long gone feathers they had on them and they've been nice.

What NOT to throw under bluebird skies??
Super hot, sunny, and calm conditions are some of my best frogging weather. That's when fish go to the grass and will come through it to eat the frog. For me in those conditions, it would be a squarebill crankbait or lipless bait, unless I can find some submerged grass. I've caught too many bass on topwater when it was triple digits and flat calm, watching them come up to eat the bait. It doesn't make sense, but it doesn't have to as long as I'm putting fish in the boat.
