  1. Welcome!
  2. Bass have to eat something. I fish for everything, but a vast majority of the time I focus on bass. There's lots of very talented multispecies anglers on the forum though, so you can get plenty of info on not just bass. That's why there's the "Other Species" forum.
  3. I've never used it so I don't know for sure.
  4. I don't think anything other than sailboats are allowed to launch there. I have only ever used the main ramp by the marina. I normally do good on bladed jigs and plastics but a jerkbait could probably be good right now too if the water isn't dirty.
  5. Go south from the ramp and just fish that bank or go straight across and fish the sailboat cove and south from there.
  6. Those baits prices have remained relatively unchanged for years (Lucky Craft actually has some way cheaper baits available now), while Rapala has been steadily jacking their prices up, and not on their new baits, it's across the board.
  7. I fish all 5 sizes, but that's the combo I fish the 75, 90, and 110 on. 130 I use my frog rod, 190 a swimbait rod.
  8. 7' M/F, 7.3:1, 20lb braid no leader.
  9. No. I use braid on several casting rods and use leaders on exactly 0 of them.
  10. Got out a couple hours after work this morning. Fish were hitting a jerkbait about as hard as they possibly could. Caught a couple dozen bass and just about as many crappie. None of them were big, but healthy and scrappy, it was a good time. My biggest bass had recently found itself a large golden shiner also.
  11. 4.8" Fat Impact is what I like to put on them.
  12. Rapala's prices are getting ridiculous. I know everything is getting more expensive but their prices seem to have skyrocketed.
  13. Academy has one from Pelican that looks really nice that goes on sale pretty often. I think they had it for a little under $300 last time I was there (which seems like years ago at this point).
  14. I fish them straight braid and never use a swivel or split ring and have no issues.
  15. Went for a couple hours after work this morning and hit a couple spots I couldn't hardly get a bait past the crappie they were so thick. The boys had their suits on and were looking nice. I caught at least 2 dozen off one little spot and the visible disgust on the face of another nearby boater was pretty comical as I tossed back crappie after crappie.
  16. 7' H/F Ethos, KK Speed Demon, 50lb Smackdown.
  17. I use the 20lb Flame Green Smackdown. I had the 10lb originally, but like you said, it's so thin I couldn't hardly see it.
  18. Something with a crosslock style snap so it's more difficult for the snap to be pulled open.
  19. Welcome!
  20. MH/MF. Squarebills are built to crank around cover, you need a rod that can move a big fish away from that cover when they bite.
  21. I don't use a DS in water deeper than 10' very often. It's really good for fishing shallow cover, or if I want to keep a bait in one spot and move it without moving it.
  22. I've got the 6' 10" MH and it's been a terrific cranking rod, almost makes me enjoy fishing them.
  23. I caught my first frog fish of the year 3 weeks ago in NE Kansas with water temp in the mid 50's. A buddy had a 30lb bag almost all on a frog a week before that. They'll eat one in pretty cool water. OP, the way your fish are getting hooked light almost sounds like spawning fish protected nest just trying to move your baits and not fully eating it, just grabbing the back end and trying to get them away from their beds.
  24. Cut your own. I use braided leader material for mine. Don't have a picture of one available but I use them most often on tiny bass jigs. This was one of the first attempts I used regular single strand wire.
  25. That's a pretty small trolling motor and no way I'd be on a river that was generating in a boat that size and with just a trolling motor.
