  1. Have you tried a swim jig? Sounds like prime conditions for one.
  2. I fish some lakes that are tough. I like to try to figure out the puzzle and I don't feel like I learn as much fishing the easy lakes. Anyone can catch them when they're jumping in the boat, it's when it's tough that it makes me really focus and think to try to solve the puzzle.
  3. I had them too, but they were VHS ?
  4. The puddle jumper style is what worked best for our boys. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Glove-Paddle-Pal-Life-Jacket-and-Vest-Child-Unisex-Shark/658122909?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=4611&adid=22222222277658122909_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=aud-1651068664946:pla-294505072980&wl5=9023835&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=658122909&wl13=4611&veh=sem_LIA&gclid=CjwKCAjw44mlBhAQEiwAqP3eVn9vxhK1Fj-ENg3fYY02cODWQxQiMBUrv2aYDPXpQI-XqfXx_TD3mRoC9i4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  5. I had just got home from BPS with a newly purchased Cullshad, checked my phone, and this was the first post I saw ?. I already submitted mine but it swims good, at the right speed. If I don't keep it at that speed, it kind of flops and rolls around in the water and the tail doesn't do much.
  6. Had to get out this weekend and get after them after getting my teeth kicked in at my tournament last weekend. The bite wasn't great, but I would have only needed 4 of these fish to beat my 5 fish limit from last weekend?
  7. I grew up watching Doug Stange and Otis "Toad" Smith wading for catfish. Then my dad and I use to go out to the little creeks and catch them below the riffles usually. We used punch bait on a sponge back then, I'm strictly a cutbait guy now. Back when I use to eat the fish I caught.
  8. I think the peacock is the more high impact, violent fight, but I think smallmouth fight longer. I have pretty limited experience with peas, but that was my takeaway from the ones I've caught.
  9. Wading for them isn't really a waiting game, it's almost as mobile as bass fishing. I fish a spot for 5 minutes tops without a bite before I'm on the move again. Drift a bait under a bobber to cover water just like a moving bait for bass, it's a good time.
  10. I liked the SB okay, but I've been a much bigger fan of the Berkley Cane Walker. Similar, but they just seem to get bit better for me and they catch better quality, plus they're cheaper.
  11. Carolina Chrome Sexy Dawg ?
  12. I like bigger fish. I've had 100 fish days where none broke 3lbs, I get bored after a while catching dinks. I've had grinder days where each bite seems like it's 4+ pounds but I only get 5-7 bites, I like those days and feel much happier at the end of days like that. If I get out with my family and put them on a bunch of fish, I don't really care how big they are though, as long as they're enjoying themselves.
  13. Nice fish, unfortunate it didn't make it. I had a large fish die on me pond fishing once. She ate a small crankbait deep into her gills, was bleeding badly, and the water and air were both very hot. She had no chance as soon as she ate the bait basically. I'm not a fish eater, but I always wanted a bass mount. She's still hanging on the wall in my shop. Doesn't look nearly as big to me now as she did to me as a teen. I wish I'd hung the little 4F Fat A in her mouth but it's long gone. Felt better doing that with her than leaving for turtle food.
  14. Been gone on vacation this past week, got some pictures and stories to share, but I was prefishing for an upcoming tournament yesterday and had my first double in a pretty good while on the RAD squarebill. The largemouth was actually hooked first, the smallmouth tried to take it away from him.
  15. Finally found some dirty water and rocks with fish today. Fish were biting the squarebill pretty good, I just wasn't catching them very well ? I did catch a few of them, including a largemouth/smallmouth double.
  16. That poor fish has a giant hole in it's jaw from being in someone's livewell.
  17. Went out and did something different Saturday, chased some walleye around. I'm not a walleye fishermen by any means, and Kansas doesn't have a bunch of them, but my parents wanted some walleye so I went out and tried. Wind was at least twice as strong as they'd called for, probably 15 with some 20mph gust, all I wanted to handle in the kayak. I was tearing up some short walleye, went through 2 tubs of 18 crawlers and caught a bunch on plastics too. Ended up getting 4 keepers before calling it a day. Also caught a few magnum bluegills. Sunday was a family day. My walleye catching seemed to have carried over with me as we probably put 25 of them in the boat. I had 5 in a row at one point. Mrs. Blue had the big bass of the day with a great smallmouth that was 3.32 pounds on a Ned rig. I thought I had a monster smallie at one point, but it turned out to be a carp that slurped up my Ned. I've only ever caught 2 carp on a Ned, both have been from this lake.
  18. 2, I caught one a little over 7 on shakyhead a few years ago in January and one a couple years before that in January. Zebra mussels and bottom algae really make fishing a shakyhead here problematic. It just doesn't touch the numbers or average size I catch on a Ned rig even the places I can use it.
  19. 6th Sense Provoke if I could only have 1. The action and variety of colors is good enough for me in any situation. Also really like the Stunna 112 and 112+1, Strike King 300, and Duo Roxante 77sp.
  20. I almost never fish a shakyhead anymore because a Ned catches more and bigger fish for me ? I've caught a bunch of fish over 5, up to nearly 7lbs on a Ned, and won quite a few tournament dollars with them. I really appreciate the "They only catch little fish", crowd ?
  21. Big baits catch big fish! At least sometimes. At least I've been getting bites on them. Missed 2 on the crawler and caught 1 on my new Tiny Klash this morning before work.
  22. Got in a bunch of fishing over the holiday weekend, most of it with the family which was a nice bonus. Saturday we spent most of the day on the lake that was surprisingly not that crowded and most of the other boats were fellow fishermen, so that was nice. We caught a little bit of everything, nothing big, but lots of action. Sunday I went and met a friend at some walk in fishing ponds. I brought both kayaks and he got to experience that for the first time. I think he had a lot of fun, other than he wore shorts and didn't wear sunblock on his legs. He caught a couple nice fish, and I got a few of my own as well. Monday wasn't supposed to be a lake day, but it was too nice outside and we couldn't think of anything better to do, so I took the family back to the same lake we were at Saturday. I thought the boat traffic would be lighter but I think there was actually more traffic Monday than there had been Saturday, but it still wasn't terrible. Fishing was a little tougher, but still caught a lot of fish. My son and I teamed up for the biggest smallmouth of the day when it chased my fish into the boat. I took his rod and dropped his bait real quick and gave it right back when it ate it. Got it all on video, it was a really cool and hectic moment. Lake also managed a "Bass Slam", catching a spot, largemouth, and smallmouth, the first time he's ever done it. The spot was his first fish of the day and the largemouth he caught from the ramp while I was loading the boat up.
  23. I would suggest upgrading the hooks. They're very sharp, but not the strongest and seem a little smaller than what should be on the baits. Our lakes are low and very clear, not great for cranks, but I managed to catch a few on the squarebill this weekend. The action reminds me somewhat of a Mann's 1- that runs a couple feet deep.
  24. That's a good one. Yeah we caught way more fish than what was in my video. I have a secret white bass spot we probably caught 30 off of in 20 minutes before I got tired of unhooking them ? It was a great time.
