  1. I really like the Flat Dawg, but like you pointed out they're not durable at all. I prefer to wacky rig them.
  2. Welcome!
  3. I haven't had any problems with mine. I have lots of micro guide rods and they've all been fine.
  4. Yeah, they will I think. That's how we do our weeknight tournaments, just with a 5 fish limit.
  5. Agreed. They sink like a rock too. I have some of the $5 multi tool pliers from WalMart, the Ozark Mountain brand, in my kayak bag for emergencies. I've been as happy with them as any of the Leathermans I've owned, and for about what sales tax on a Leatherman cost.
  6. I had pneumonia about a month ago. It was almost a month before I felt like I wasn't constantly trying to catch my breath. With having fluid, I'd say pneumonia is probably a pretty safe bet.
  7. I have a KVD Tour Cranking rod 7' MH, it's a very nice cranking rod, one of my favorites I've ever owned. No experience with the other 2, but I'd have no issues recommending the KVD rod.
  8. The flip lock expands out a little extra when you flip it down. You were probably getting a better seal with it than you are with the screw in style. I had the same issue with my old johnboat and it stopped when I went back to a flip lock style.
  9. Very different baits with very different actions. If you're looking to simplify, cut down on colors and maybe brands. I mostly cut lizards out of my arsenal because they seem so similar to a brush hog or baby brush hog style bait to me, which I prefer fishing anyways.
  10. Agreed. Hate the cold, the crowds, and the commercialization of it, but getting to watch the excitement of our oldest son and my nieces, that's a great feeling.
  11. Almost died from it when I was really young. Not bad anymore, don't even have any inhalers or anything to deal with it, but occasionally have to do breathing treatments when I'm sick. My wife has asthma also, and she does carry an inhaler. I've never seen her have a really bad attack, but a few times she's needed her inhaler. It's a terrible feeling when you can't get a full breath.
  12. I have my 400B on an 8' XXH swimbait rod. It works well for the biggest swimbaits I will ever want to fish, and has also done well slinging A-rigs all day for stripers.
  13. I fished it quite a bit a couple years ago when I lived closer. I did really well for the most part with lots of nice quality fish and pretty good numbers. It's a great night fishing lake and a good swimbait lake also. My adventures on my days off a couple weeks ago.
  14. That was pretty cool seeing the exploded view and highlighting where all the critical pieces are located.
  15. Any reel can be used for cranks, it's mostly personal preference what you choose to use. I use 5.0, 5.2, and 6.2 depending on the type of cranks I'm using.
  16. YUM has become my go to soft bait company, not just for cheaper baits, but in general. H2O for hard baits. Booyah for spinnerbaits
  17. Sounds like you're having a good time. Now just drive north a few hours and we'll put those 90's to use on a bunch of smallies
  18. Was it missing scales or injured in any way other than missing eyes? Large catfish and bass both can produce enough force to suck the eyes out of a bluegill. I wouldn't be surprised if a large crawdad could pluck the eyes out either. I found one that either a large catfish or bass (most likely a bass as the catfish tend to cause more severe injuries than a bass), had very recently tried to eat and mostly removed one of the bluegill's eyes.
  19. Welcome!
  20. Vicious squarebill for sure.
  21. I've tried to fish them like a crankbait and haven't been able to make it work. I do best with them fishing them with a dragging retrieve. I have my best luck with baits like a brush hog, rage craw, space monkey, or menace, beaver, or a 10" worm.
