  1. I could cover most of my bases with the 78 pointer, RC stick, cutter and skinny cutter 110+. Your color selection will probably vary a bit from mine, but colors like pearl/bone, herringbone chartreuse, Table Rock shad/sour grape, and pro blue are must haves for me.
  2. A fallfish double, I bet that doesn't happen often!
  3. Pretty limited colors. I think last time they had Toledo Gold, Foxy Momma, and maybe one other color and all size 50 one knockers.
  4. I've been using the 1/4 and 3/8oz mostly during the winter to get a slower fall. I've got some 1/2, 3/4, and 1oz ones waiting for the summer months though.
  5. I make my own pretty similar to that one and it does skip very well. I put a centering pin screwlock on mine versus that post style keeper.
  6. Just as prey items don't take new form/color after dark
  7. One problem with the Academy website, they often mislabel things, at least when it comes to fishing tackle. That jerkbait is labeled as floating, but is actually a suspending bait. The bait you're looking at from Ebay is just a 110 mm blank, probably from Predator or similar website, and then painted. They may be very nice, or if they don't get the right amount of paint and sealant on them, they might sink tail down, might float, you can't ever really tell. I have a bunch of custom 110 painted blanks that a friend does for me and they work very well.
  8. I'd use it for jerkbaits and topwaters like you said. I picked a few up for a steal a few months ago and they're nice rods for the money.
  9. I had some of the I series Curados. Never had any issues other than you have to oil the brake drum frequently to keep the noise down. Other than that they were nice to fish with.
  10. I've fished both and IMO, the Wacky Style is one of the most versatile spinning rods I've ever owned and continue to use.
  11. This is what I do in Missouri where you can only fish 3 hooks instead of 5. Do you mean at the end of the arms or at the midway point where the blades typically are? I've seen both ways but I've never fished one with dummies in place of blades in the middle of the arms.
  12. I have one. Mine glides nicely and cast well, but I don't use it often because it works a lot like my Shine Glides and I just never use it over the Shine Glides.
  13. Either a 6' 6" or 7' M/F would be my choice. What brand is whatever fits your personal preference. I have that same reel on a few different rods.
  14. It is, but you can occasionally still find some of their stuff. Both Academy stores by me still have Xcalibur rattle baits on their shelves.
  15. Spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, jigs, and big worms are my mainstays for night trips. Keep it simple, keep the deck clear of clutter. I don't like topwater or treble hooks at night, but sometimes I have to deal with it because that's what's working. I prefer darker colors normally, but when the moon is bright, I've had good success with white spinnerbaits and bladed jigs.
  16. I like bulk on my bladed jigs, along with the fact that I'm tying them so I do them like I want the first time. I do fish them like Rolo said at times, without a skirt and just a swimbait on the back. Seems to be very effective when they're really keyed on baitfish.
  17. I would think maybe a small Siwash hook would work?
  18. Make sure to have everything ready and unhooked when you get on the ramp, nothing more frustrating than the guy blocking a lane of the ramp while he's getting everything ready to put it in the water. I launch by myself alot, so I just leave the front strap on and back in far enough to be able to get the boat off the trailer. I set the brake and tie up to the dock while I park the boat. There's a good video that Glenn did about launching a boat. I took the suggestion to put the truck in neutral to back down the ramp and it really does make it easier to let the boat pull you down the ramp instead of pushing it down the ramp. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/backing-a-trailer.html
  19. This is a very sensitive subject that some guys get really emotional about. I see both sides of the argument, but since there's no laws against it, whether it's "right or wrong", is going to depend on the fisherman's moral compass. It's very exciting to be able to watch the fish and see how they react to a bait and to try to get them to bite. Then there's obvious concern about things like if a bunch of fish are caught off beds in tournaments and taken to weigh in, those beds are most likely lost. If the lake has a healthy population of fish, that may not be an issue though.
  20. There's a time and place for heavier stuff but most of the cover I fish is very shallow, less than 2' of water. Most of the time I'm using a 1/4oz unless I'm flipping grass.
  21. Usually 3-4', about half the length of the rod. Yes that's it.
  22. I'd spend the extra on a Curado, love my 70XG.
