  1. I've never fished the Ikas, but I have unlimited confidence in both the craws and rodents. If I was going to pick one, I'd pick craw.
  2. We do a lot of edged weapon defense at work because that's what we're most likely to encounter. One of the biggest thing to remember in a knife fight, if you decide to stand and fight, you're going to get cut, end of story. Now you may win the fight, but if you're only armed with your hands, going against the most novice fighter that's armed with a knife, they're going to cut you. We train with shock knives (imagine you have a butcher's knife, but instead of a sharp edge, it shocks the crap out of the person it touches). I've never seen someone go hand to hand and not get shocked by it, which is fun since every situation we go through you're supposed to go hand to hand. The 20 feet rule has been changed to 31 feet also. 20 feet sounds like a long way, but even an average person can cover that before your brain processes what is going on and draws a gun and fires. Best thing to do if you're unarmed and someone pulls a knife, run and/or get something between you and them. If you've never seen any images of someone who has been in a knife fight, make sure you haven't eaten anything recently and do a google image search, it's not pretty.
  3. Sounds like swimming a jig might have been a good idea.
  4. I like a twin tail grub or YUM Craw Papi.
  5. #2 works well for a lot of normal sized bass baits.
  6. I use my own in 1/8oz. I like the football head with a screwlock keeper.
  7. Never bring a knife to a gunfight.
  8. The 70 size Curado and Scorpion are the smallest reels I've been able to fish with comfortably. They're both very nice.
  9. Blue looks nice, looks like maybe a bit heavy one the clear around that front hook hanger but that's something that comes with time. I'm sure you'll be catching fish on them in no time.
  10. I hate repacking bearings, but burn one of them things up and you'll wish you'd just done it. Plus, when you're repacking them it allows you to inspect for potential problems.
  11. I actually have better luck with LMB when the water temps get really cold in this part of the country. I know that up north they're active in cold water temps, but it just doesn't seem to work around here. The ones I've caught are mostly in deep water near steep drops. Spotted bass are the most active in cold water if you have a lake near you with a good population of them.
  12. Welcome!
  13. Welcome!
  14. On the standard models you're right, they are a bit over rated on powers. The micro guide versions are pretty spot on though.
  15. No, Steve Parks, the Rage Tail inventor. @Big-O on the forums.
  16. The shell white is the color I really wanted, but it's sold out. Still, I'm not passing up on Slender Pointers for $7.
  17. I paint them more for me than I do the fish. I doubt it makes a difference, but since I do it myself, why risk it?
  18. This is what the whole thing looks like. I fish it on a 6' UL Avid with a 750 Symetre and 3.5lb DAM Techtan line. I've even sight fished some nice carp with the same setup when they're eating falling berries.
  19. Thanks for the heads up, couldn't pass up on those Slender Pointers for $7.
  20. I assume you're referring to sonars commonly called flashers?
  21. Another vote for the H2O Express Composite Cranker from Academy. I use mine for squarebills to mid depth baits and it fishes them very well.
  22. Anytime bass are eating other fish.
