S.E. Kansas mined land strip pits
We've tried to put something together several times on the pits and nobody ever wants to make it happen. A good portion of the KC area members are fishing a tournament on Table Rock in March already. I really enjoy fishing the pits, wouldn't stand a chance against local guys that fish them often, but the added challenge of picking the right pit at the right time makes the idea of a tournament on them really sound good to me.

Best punching rod for under $130
You can get the Okuma TCS rods for just over $100 . They're great rods and come in some heavy duty models that wI'll handle punching.

Thoughts on Cabela's Guidewear
I've owned Guidewear and a currently have a 100 mph suit from BPS. I wish I could trade my suit now for another set of Guidewear. The Guidewear was great, the 100 mph suit isn't worth half what I paid for it.

Thankfully they'll be replaced quickly on his farm in central Kansas.

Bearings - Vintage Shimano vs Today's Reels
I'm a big believer in the thought that if you like it and it works up to your satisfaction, use it. The newer reels are nice to fish with, but they aren't needed to catch fish. I still use several of the B series Curados and catch fish with them just fine despite being "outdated".

Long time lurking rookie here would like some tackle advice
I really like a bladed jig in stained to dirty water, especially around vegetation.

Kastking stealth or Abu Garcia promax
145 yards of 12lb test is higher line capacity than a lot of low profile bass reels anymore. It's far more than is actually needed for sure.

breaking rods with braid??
I use braid on a medium action rod all the time and haven't broken it yet, and it's not an expensive rod.

Floating Rat L Trap
I was going to say just the same. I have a few suspending traps that are deadly over vegetation, or early in the year when I need a slow presentation.

Ned Rig- Weedless jig
Not often, because the bait doesn't touch the bottom except occasionally. Even when it does hang, the bowstring pop will usually knock it right free.

Is the brain damage worth it?

ohio buck
My cousin had 2 monsters get hit by cars off his property. He still shot a nice one, but not like what could have been. This is one of them in velvet on his trail cam. and the other still alive in the median after it had been mortally wounded by a vehicle.

January Swimbait Toad
Swimbaits can be a lot of work and fruitless hours, but as you now know, the payoff is worth it. Congrats on a great looking fish!

What line do you prefer for spinning set ups?
Braid, usually with a leader but sometimes without.

Can a spinning reel be used on a casting rod
It almost causes me physical pain to see someone fishing like this. I've fished with a spinning reel on a casting rod. If you can deal with the casting trigger digging into the middle of your palm you're a better man than I am.

Knowing what you do now....
1. My maternal grandpa who passed away this past year. I only ever went with him once and I really regret not going with him more. 2. I'd reach a little higher because it's easier to learn with nicer gear imo. I would have started with a 100B Curado and 7' MH/F Avid (of what was available when I was starting bass fishing). 3. Hooksets are free. I missed a lot of fish when I was learning because I didn't want to set the hook on a limb and lose a bait.

Grease
I have cheap version that goes on the end of a grease gun, makes a big difference, but I still hate doing it
