Missed that. I agree then with the darker colors and something with a bigger profile than a worm. Fish generally hold tight to the bottom and cover in stained water. Cold, dirty water is about as tough as it gets.

I think the bright colors might have been your mistake. Everything I hear about California is clear water and heavy fishing pressure, which points straight towards natural colors to me.

It's all personal preference. I can palm a 200b no problem and it's really comfortable. I'd take a 200b over a 200I any day. My super tuned greenies are invaluable to me. Some people prefer classic cars to new, value all depends on the person buying it

It hasn't been for lack of trying, and I plan to continue to do so.

Not a squarebill but I've had good luck with a Duo Realis SHAD62DR. Suspending rattle baits are killers too.
