  1. I ran into Ned on the water last week at one of his usual haunts. Him and 2 other guys put on the water not long after I did and took off about the same time, we talked for about 15 minutes at the ramp, I believe he'd caught 53 or 57 in 3.5 hours. I'd only caught 6 but I was fishing a Bullshooter All his rods were rigged up with his namesake rig, but there were several different styles of baits, not just the TRD. He's a big fan of a discontinued Zman bait called the Rain MinnowZ I believe.
  2. It would be a pretty huge coincidence to catch two fish with that identical split in the top, back fin like that.
  3. Mine should be here Monday
  4. The rod you bought will work just fine.
  5. I tried it once. I got second place in one and made some of my money back. Next time around I won it and got DQ'd because I didn't measure the fish correctly. I did it the exact same way with all my other entries and they never said anything until I won. First place was $100 and I could pay $150 to challenge the decision Fool me once... Haven't entered anymore since.
  6. I go completely blacked out at night except for my headlamp when I have to use it.
  7. I bought one of the 4.9:1 for my deep cranking rod. Only Daiwa I own but so far so good.
  8. The Spro Bronzeye Shad is a great WTD style hollow body bait also.
  9. Welcome!
  10. We call that shooting a roostertail. I honestly don't think I could ever get tired of fishing, it's all that's on my brain all the time. Doesn't matter if I'm casting for bass, sitting on the river waiting for a big blue or flathead, pitching a tiny jig for bluegills and sunfish, it's all exciting to me and I hope that excitement never goes away.
  11. On an normal day on my "fishing day" (my 1 full day off each week), I expect to catch over 30 fish but I'd rather catch a few big fish, just doesn't work out that way a whole lot. For most lakes I fish 2-3 is a solid fish, 4-5 is a kicker, 6-7 is the fish of year most likely, 8+ I've never caught one in Kansas
  12. Welcome from another Kansan! There's actually a Wichita area thread in the Central fishing forum you might want to check out.
  13. I did it backwards and caught my biggest Elk largemouth (4.5) on a Sammy and my biggest smallie (19") on the Zoom Mini Lizard. I haven't got to fish the Elk in a couple years, really sucks, but once the little man gets old enough hoping to take some family trips down the river.
  14. Cool baits, how'd you hear about them?
  15. DVT does a great job and is a site sponsor. Raymond at Mondo has a guy that does it but haven't heard or seen anything he's worked on.
  16. 8" Zoom Lizard for me.
  17. I got low 4's on mine. Check with a credit union, bank wouldn't go lower than 6.5 despite having great credit and I had to jump through all kinds of hoops in the application process. Credit union got me the interest rate, term length, and payment I wanted.
  18. Using braid for big baits that aren't floaters is asking for heartache. 20-25lb copolymer is what I toss my big baits on.
  19. Hmmm, that's going to be a pretty tough one to defend in court. Doesn't get much more physical than working on a fishing boat like that, and there's probably some video footage somewhere of him doing more work than someone with a disability should be able to do
  20. You might want to set the hook next time if you've lost feel of your crankbait and it's not running left, right, or spiraling. A lot of times fish will "slack line" me, when they eat the bait coming straight towards the boat and it just feels like my bait is gone all the sudden.
  21. Almost every day at work.
