  1. good story, im sure that rod/reel will do you well, for 25$ you can actually by a nice spinning combo! and for the fish, ive been bass fishing seriously for about 1 year and havent caught one that big your doing well!
  2. palomar, so simple to tie and is very strong
  3. i dont throw black to much, but for senkos all i throw is they black maybe with a fleck of color. but i do honlestly think black is a great color for soft plastics
  4. Well i went out today to pine creek (PA), since i didn't have the option of going up north. I still had a really fun day. Even though my first trout i hooked, a big brookie last week had spit the fly before i could land him. So i will say it was half of my first fish LOL. But i caught and landed 2 rainbows today, with missing a couple others. I caught them on a black wooley bugger. It was a blast, especially the one i hooked into that immediately went down stream, into the rapids. I was pinned in and couldn't go forward, i got him on the reel as quick as i could. Since i couldn't do anything i started trying to play him out and taking small amounts of line in and finally landed him, even though he wasn't big, it felt like a giant in the rapids! all in all it was a good day with a couple trout and a couple misses.
  5. yea, in 2007 he had i think about 21 homeruns, only a couple less than travis hafner... and they still got rid of him. oh well. he is making good money overseas though. not to mention 90 some RBI's
  6. lol, when i played in little league i remember the "try hard" dads that would almost hit there kids with bats when they did something wrong. thank god im in high school now, most of our games are aweay so the parents never get in the game lol. oh yea thought id add in, my cousin played in the MLB for a couple years so i actully got professional hitting lessons for free!!! not to mentions probably almost 1 or 2 thousand in players bats, signatures, and baseballs. if any of you were Cleveland Indians fans his name was Ryan Garko, he started 1st base for them for about 2 or 3 years. now hes playing in korea
  7. well when i fish as soon as the ice breaks my guides usaully freeze up cause of the lows temps, im sure its not good for my reel either
  8. i love the cork handles on the reel, makes it look so good!
  9. get a medium light 2 piece if you want a break down for the car, you may lose some sensitivity but you can also get a longer rod for casting distance etc. i used my medium light for bass and trout, does real good for both species cause i think you can throw 1/16 oz. to 3/8 oz. lures.
  10. im fishing probably pithole creek, east branch of spring creek, maybe oil or tionesta creek. All NW streams. i am excited, maybe i will get my first trout on the fly....
  11. wow 5 lbs, that must have fought like none other!
  12. id rather fish rivers/streams, its what i like to do.
  13. yes i mean like erie and pymatuning, also moraine has them. but those are big lakes and i just couldnt see myself fishing lakes for smallies
  14. lol hes better than me fighting that fish must have been like fighting a tuna! this is great, thanks for posting.
  15. for me, river and creek smallies is how smallie fishing came about to me, and really the only way i could imagine fishin for them, in cool water streams. i leave the lakes for the LM. But if there were lakes w/ smallies around me i'd be there oh yea one of my friends friend's wife got a 6 lb smallie out of here , its so unheard here of i didnt believe it untill i got proof.
  16. your very smart! actually that big rock is were i caught my biggest out of the creek, about 1.5/2 lber. there are a couple huge boulders on the stream i love to fish, its very scenic and the fishin aint bad either!
  17. check out the field and stream tec-spec rod series, i heard they are pretty good. and they are with in your price range, i have a similar field and stream rod and i like it alot. Tec-Spec Rod's
  18. i have found the overhead cast the most difficult for me by far. As for me i hit most accurate with a side arm or roll cast, but when i am trying to hit tiny little holes i pitch the bait, its very accurate for short casts and you make a small entrance into the water compared to most baits, its mostly a stealth tactic. But i still find im alot more accurate with spinning gear
  19. lol, notice how his team mate chest bumps him and he almosts falls over
  20. i thought bass were hitting the surface too a couple days ago, but it was happening pretty frequently. then i put down the baitcaster and go my fly rod, matched the hatch and they were all sunfish/bluegill. It may have been bass but for me it wasnt. and believe me i have had a couple of those days on small ponds were you cant catch anything, it sucks.
  21. never bought fishing gear from there but i bought a Ka-Bar knife and got it $30 less than what they normally sell for, i think there shipping time is excellent.
  22. i love there lures, i usually use 1/8 for trout and smallies cause they dont get big on the streams i fish but i tied on a 1/4 oz. and hooked into a 3lber on UL gear, he later broke my line on a rock im sure you will love them
