  1. Had to sell all my gear last year because of some hard times. Things are lookin up and I'm getting a new combo to get back after em. I am eyeballing the tatula sv and curado k reels. It will be for all purpose bassin. That being said I'd prefer whichever of the 2 can sling weightless plastics (trick worms, speed worms, etc...). I'd like to hear from people that have experienced both reels. I know there are fanboys from each camp for shimano and salsa, and I have owned and enjoyed the reels from both companies so I'm not brand biased, just want an honest opinion from somebody that has used both. Thanks guys.
  2. I have fished the Osceola forest pits and ponds but its been years. Yeah i saw his Palestine fish, that was a nice one! There are some good ones in there but seem to be few and far between. Haven't fished Palestine myself since last year. Its such a fishy lookin lake its hard to believe it can be so hard to fish. I always had most of my luck out there in and around the reeds instead of all the obvious cypress trees and pads.
  3. Biting pretty good out here in Baker co...Got a few decent keeper size fish pond hopping with a war eagle spinnerbait yesterday.
  4. I posted about my son and I going to Rodman but went to Santa Fe instead because it's closer. Had a good weekend. Fishing was kind of slow but we did as good or usually better than anybody else that was at the ramp this weekend. Caught some decent keeper sized fish and a gigantic mudfish that broke both our hearts when we saw it bc we thought I had at least an 8lb bass hooked. Been out here for two days...time to go home and take a shower!! Haha!!! Anybody else been to Santa Fe recently? We had most of our luck on trick worms and flukes in either watermelon or pearl white. Caught the mudfish on a swim jig with a keitech swimbait trailer and lost a good bass on that one too as it swam right at the boat with it after it hit the base of a cypress tree. Had a great time.
  5. Going for the first time this weekend with my son. We will be in a jonboat with paddles so need to know where would be best to put the boat in and maybe what's been working. Thanks in advance for any install can give us!
  6. Kent, I wish I coulda been there with u the day u caught those pigs....it's been years and that avatars still the same. I'm guessin that there was much franzia abused that day. Lmao. Still look in awe every time I see those brownies
  7. Last poster is pretty spot on....big water get a war eagle Mike mclelland spinnerbait. That thing still gets bit in the ponds too by the way but by the bigger fish. You're on some good fish from what I've heard. Wade thru the dinks to find the one u want. Kinda like tournament fishin'....if u throw it, they will (eventually) bite.
  8. Went to a local pond the other day and saw what im pretty sure were bass beds. I was wondering if anybody else has seen any beds or bedding fish other than spring fed places like lake George. I know they spawn earlier there. Thanks.
  9. Congrats....nothing will EVER beat the feeling you have right now. I *** you sir. My daughters are 13, 11, and 7... You're in for some good times my friend
  10. Just saw these on TW...Has anyone tried them? They look pretty sweet. I love my rage toads but like to switch it up sometimes.
  11. There has to be something in the paint that reacts with the plastic. I do the same thing sometimes when I'm walking the bank and I've had a 1 minus do that to me too.
  12. Oh wait a minute, you were talking about the fish. lol. I'm kiddin man, nice fish!
  13. A lot of the newer guys seem like they love busting balls...it happens.. most of them will be fine
  14. Yeah you should...maybe I should too after work. Haha! If the 300 is anything like my 100 you'll love it. Hands down the best reel I've ever gotten at that price point.
  15. Uncle Leo has a good point too...I've had many strikes the second my lure touched down. I swear sometimes its like the fish saw it coming and was just waiting there with its mouth open.
  16. When I'm really launching a bait out there I'm not too worried about the point of impact because I'm trying to cover all that water in-between. I'm more careful when casting to a pinpoint target like a laydown or something where I'm thinking a fish will be up tight to whatever I'm throwing to. Don't really think its much of an issue when you're overhand bombing a lure IMO...
  17. Lol at the Franks red hot reference...nice! Definitely agree with the kvd on the fluorocarbon and mono
  18. I eyeballed in my yard what i figured to be 35-40 yards. 50-60yds with a trap or something like a sammy doesn't sound unreasonable at all with a decent rod and reel if you've got a good thumb and your breaks are low/off...
  19. Yes 35-40 yards with weightless plastics. 4" weightless plastics. I threw a r.i trixie shark and threw it considerably farther. Sweet lil reel for the money. On the subject of the chronarch 50E i want one of those for my next reel. Budget just wouldn't allow at the time.
  20. U totally flush the grease? Do u add any other lubricant?
  21. And it's sweeeeet! Grabbed one up from the sale TW was having. Spooled it with 12lb suffix siege mono. I tied on a weightless zoom swimmin fluke JUNIOR (yes, the lil one) with a gammy 2/O ewg. Adjusted the tension and launched it. I threw that lil fluke about 35-40 yards accross my lawn! It palms nicely and balanced great on my veritas rod. Sweet lil reel that can launch some pretty light lures. Thinkin bout upgrading to abec bearings and seeing what it can REALLY do. Anybody else tried one of these out??
  22. X2 for the war eagle. The Mike McClelland finesse spinnerbait is my favorite spinnerbait by far. The package says "get 5 quick!" and that's no exaggeration. I do like terminators as well.
  23. Looks like the 51E gets the nod. Thanks for the input! Trust me, if the budget allowed id definitely be getting both lol.
