Aftermath of a trophy smallmouth
I went to Kentucky Lake with Bowfish12 last Saturday and had quite a day, numbers wise. I lost 2 good ones on topwater, including what was probably my PB smallie. This girl came about 2 feet out of the water when she hit my LC Sammy. I played her right, did my best to keep her from going airborne (which she did anyway a couple times), didn't have my drag set too tight, and had her wore out after a long fight. Right next to the boat as I am leading her to the net she comes unbuttoned, MAYBE 1 foot out of reach for the net and I watch her slowly swim away. I thought maybe I had pulled a bit to hard to lead her to the net, but I saw my lure and noticed both sets of trebles, especially the rear one, were mangled all to hell. She had broken one of the 3 hooks off of the rear treble! Anyhow after quite a few outbursts I finally calmed down and we got back to it. We caught alot of fish but nothing really worth takin pics of, so we had a pretty fun day, minus my nausea over losing what was surely a a 6lb + smallmouth. Hope ya'll have been catchin 'em too! Thanks again for takin me out on your boat Randal! Here's a pic of my beat up Sammy...

? about the Daiwa Zillion rods....
I have a 6'9" MH Zillion I use as my primary frog and slop rod (goes to show how underrated the power is). I agree with the_natural about the trigger. I have come home a few times with a red mark between my middle and forefinger from hard hooksets with this rod. Don't let this discourage you though. The Zillion rods are RIDICULOUSLY light and sensitive. For the price I don't think there is a more sensitive stick out there, and I've used quite a few (Loomis, St. Croix, anything you can think of...)...Just my .02

Kentucky Lake Sept 19th
I guess I can part with that info, lol! We hit the grass mats with toads. Between the 2 of us we had 3 full packs of zoom horny toads and 1 pack of rage tails shads and we ran out of all of them if thats any indication of how many we caught. Once the toads were all ripped to shreds I threw a white super fluke at them and picked up a few more. 95% of our fish were caught on the toads/shads. I also lost a couple 5+ pounders at the boat due to my net guy missing them. I jokingly told him he was fired, after the 2nd one jumped off at the boat. Really great day though!

Kentucky Lake Sept 19th
We had a GREAT day today. The early morning bite was kind of slow actually. We started out throwing topwater close to where we had seen schools of shad in the mouth of the bays we were fishing. We caught a couple but it was realy slow. Around midday I decided we should go hit a mainlake shoreline that I knew had some grass and WOW did that pay off. The grass was thicker than I ever remember it being and it was loaded with quality fish. We went back and forth down about a mile long stretch of bank and really hammered them. Around 3 or 4 the sun actually broke out and the bite slowed. We picked up a few more here and there on an assortment of different lures. Anyhow, here are a couple of pics from a great outing yesterday. I hope ya'll have been on 'em too!

Something COMPLETELY different
"Lochloosa" (obviously for me cuz I grew up fishing that lake), "on Palestine", and "Tragic" are probably my fave 3 by them, but it's alllll good man!

Something COMPLETELY different
It is slower than the album version, yeah, I have all of them. One of the best live performance recordings I have heard yet, though. It's awesome how much emotion JJ brings with his music. It's rare to find a musician these days that is so connected to his words that it brings him to tears every time he sings certain songs.

Something COMPLETELY different
from my last post...Any of you north Florida boys will know about Lochloosa. I grew up fishing Lochloosa and Orange Lake ( they are connected ). These guys grew up with the same upbringing and same soul I have. Old Florida is being built up and destroyed, and these boys bring the pain of that happening. If you don't like the style, you still can't deny the realness and emotion of this song. This guy (J.J.) has played this song probably more than a thousand times and still gets choked up when he sings it, and it waters my eyes up too, cuz I came from where we came from, and I see what he's talkin' about more and more every time I go home to visit! This song probably applies to other wetlands, in other parts of this great nation too, and if it does, you'll feel this song, BIG TIME!

for you rock fans
Freddy was talented, yes, definitely. I also feel that Cedric from this band is quite talented as well, but the majority of their music ain't my cup of tea...and I have a pretty d**n ecclectic taste in music.

for you rock fans
after a little more research I have found that, to me, the rest of their stuff sucks pretty bad...Still love THIS one song though.

tough day on Kentucky Lake
Bud and I launched from Kenlake marina around 7:00-7:30. Long story short, after 7 hours Bud had landed 2 short largemouth, and I had landed a short smallmouth and a drum. It was the toughest day I can ever remember having on Kentucky Lake. Looks like I will be sticking to the south end of the lake for a while, things are a little better down there!
