  1. I drag the 4" version on a 1/2 ounce football like I would drag a tube. I will bump up to a 3/4 ounce football in deep and/or windy conditions. This seems to have replaced the tube for me on many waters, but oddly, I have not caught a smallmouth on Erie yet with it. lol The 3 1/2" version dropshots well.
  2. You might want to fish locally for a few years and see if you're any good at it. Everyone thinks they are halfway decent at fishing until they fish their first tournaments.
  3. A few years ago I started using straight 30 pound braid on my topwater baits. Don't have a good reason to go back to thick mono like I was using. Never had hooks "tear away" or any of these other issues. In fact, 100% of my treble hook presentations are with braid now (with the exception of bladebaits), and all my one hook bottom bouncing stuff is with straight flouro. I know, ass backwards.
  4. One of the best anglers in my club uses clear blue mono line almost exclusively.
  5. I used a Z-Man Chatterfrog for a couple days with good results and I decided right then and there to start making my own, and have ever since. I've stuck with bluegilly or sunfishy colors.
  6. I used a St. Croix Premier 7' MH Fast with straight 30 pound braid to the bait, and loved it. I use a St. Croix LTB 7' MH Moderate with the same braid now and it is always in the back of my head to switch back to that Premier because I liked it a little better. EDIT: So my point is you should be fine with a M Fast
  7. Zero. I already have gift cards I can't find anything to buy with.
  8. Ditto, except improved clinch for me.
  9. I use a quality snap swivel right at the spoon.
  10. I have 1 Mojo and it is a 7' MH Fast casting rod. I also have 4 Premiers in the same length and action. 9 times out of 10 I'll grab the Premier over the Mojo. For whatever reason they feel much better to me.
  11. Hard to beat a 3/4 ounce Hopkins Shorty. Whatever the spoon, be sure to add a swivel to the line tie area.
  12. I bought a Vexilar 7" color camera a couple years ago and it was the same thing the first time I dropped it down. Fished a known smallie area twice without a bite, marked a few fish, but dropped the camera down and they were swimming around down there like an aquarium. lol Should use it more than I do, but it is time consuming to use, and conditions need to be right also (clearish water and fairly calm winds). I tend to use it more on the ice though. Here is a short video I took with my phone while my son was jigging for bass on the ice.
  13. The world is a dangerous place to live.
  14. Looks like it is called a "dropper loop knot".
  15. He is looking for something like this, but with only one dropper.
  16. I think the OP is looking for a way to have a dropper 6 to 10 inches away from the main line. I know in some states that is illegal.
  17. RC helicopter with a pool thermometer.
  18. All I carry/use is ball weights anymore. I've tried both over time and couldn't really detect any pro's or con's about any of them so I decided to keep my selection simple.
  19. I preferred Night Songs better. lol So let's go with this one........................
  20. I delivered a couple dozen of them in my town right around the first of the year.
  21. I prefer the open water months. lol
