Nope afternoon. He had to wait over 4hr for the sharelunker guy from TXPW to get there and verify it. By then it was dark. Clancy W

The Texas Record is 18.18 I believe. This fish was #22. but almost every lake has a lake record of over 10lbs. I think the Texas record will be broken this year. In the last 2 months we've had 2 lake records broken. Falcon, with a 15.something, and now lake Austin with this 16.03. Clancy W

Maybe I got a bad one then because it was my first Shimano and I wasn't impressed What did you not like about it? Clancy W After a couple outings the bail would stick open if I just started to crank to close it, now I normally hand close the bail but in haste have forgotten a few times. It then started to feel like the gears were grinding and since then it has spent more time at home than on the water. Maybe a good cleaning and some time with a reel mechanic can bring it back to life. Well I havent had that problem, but I dont reel the bail closed. Clancy W

Saw this on another forum and wanted to post it here. Lake Austin record was shatered by 2lbs with this 16.03lb LM. If you think about it, not that far away from the 18.18lbs which is the state record. Clancy W

X2, I've got 3 of them and adding the flipping stick is not far away. Just gunna buy some costas first. I love all the rods that I own. The reels are a joke IMO. Clancy W

Been using the cheapo Black Max for about a year, and the Cardinal for almost five. No issues yet and I'm in brackish tidal rivers 90% of the time. Mine jamed up like I said. I cleaned it really good and it was still not working right. Took it back to academy and got another one. Had the same problem so took it back again and got my money back. Clancy W Hmm, either I'm lucky or you got a lemon. I think its both, ive read some other reviews on them and some other people had the same problem. Clancy W

Their reels are made to last. Only used one Abu reel and it was horrible. It jamed up within about a week. It was their cheep blackmax but lost me on that. Clancy W

Good luck! Helped run a catfish tank at a boat show yesterday. I use a OLD diawa rod. 6' 6' MH, paired with a quantum burst with 65lb braid. Dont use this combo much, so I aint invested much money in it. Clancy W

Why are 90% of yall dissing shimanos? I have a citica,caenen, and a sahara. Adding a curado to my arseonal also. Love every single one of these reels. Cast great, smooth, lightweight, strong, durable. Haven't had a issue with one yet and dont think I will. I've fished with some people who use the OLD curados and they work jsut fine. Clancy W

I like 5-7 in the boat. I fish as a co-angler so not as much room. If i'm beating the bank, normaly 1 of my "everything" rods. If I'm using two diffrent techniques (EX- Frogs and Shakeyheads) then ill strap whichever rod I'm not using onto my backpack. Clancy W

I use the spinnerbait/buzzbait box to hold them. I took out the buzz bait part and use it as extra worm storage. Clancy W
