  1. I am much closer to fourbizz's approach than Raul's. I have great respect for you guys who take meticulous care of your tackle 8-), but if I had to go through that procedure before and after each trip I wouldn't get out very often.
  2. $15 puts them out of my price range. Natural with all the tackle you own it is hard for me to imagine you making fun of someone else. ;D
  3. Learning to detect bites on a jig for the most part comes with experience. Staying in contact with the jig by keeping the line tight enough to feel what is going on-but not so tight as to pull it away from your target area, and staying focused on trying to picture just what the jig is doing at all times are two of the most important skills needed IMO. Getting good with a jig will make you better with other techniques because it teaches you to pay attention. A sensitive rod helps, but once you know the basics you just need to do it. There are many articles on site by real experts that can help you. The link below is to an article by Denny Bauer. He has made a living throwing jigs for many years. At the bottom of the page you will find links to many other pages. Good luck. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_fishing_jigs.html LOL In the time it took me to write this reply a couple of the afore mentioned experts have weighed in. 8-)
  4. Fifteen yards for excessive smileys. I have two things to say: 1. Congratulations. 2. Go Phillies.
  5. Nice. I wonder if it is going to be stocked at all locations? I always think I'll try it but haven't found any place locally that handles it.
  6. I have a BPS Prp Qualifier 7' M-XF that I really like. It is my favorite plastic and light jig rod. If I'm pitching to heavy cover I use a MH-F. If I had to use only one rod it would be the 7' M-XF.
  7. That is why you are a successful business man; attention to detail. 8-) I am going to buy some of your stuff if for no other reason, maybe I won't feel compelled to jump in on the BPS bashing threads.
  8. I'm told if you clean them catfish right, the ain't bad eatin.
  9. My first job after high school. I was sent to the tool room for a sky hook. I will never forget the look I got from the attendant. : Everybody had a good chuckle at my expense. :
  10. Bosn I wish you the best. You can do this. I have been without smokes for a number of years now. I quit a few times over the years before finally getting free of it, and one thing I learned is that one is too many. Good luck.
  11. I am not an expert and don't own any Loomis rods (I think they are fantastic-just can't afford them), but I have always understood that a softer CB rod does allow for greater bait action. This quote is from the Deep Flex description on the Loomis site: "The softer flex improves the lure's action, allowing it to work its way over or around the cover the way it was designed to which is far more attractive to the fish." Just throwing it out there for discussion.
  12. There are a lot of people living on the streets with serious mental issues. This guy getting locked up may be the best thing that could happen to him. Life sure can be interesting. Nice job telling the story-glad you weren't hurt.

BigRick that was my first time seeing this video. Absolutely amazing. I don't own a jelly worm, but now I have to buy a bag just in case...
  14. You're right. I want to go right now. It's cold, rainy, and windy-I guess I really don't want to go right this minute. I do have the itch though. Nice video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  15. While I think $8 is too much for Senkos, I will still keep a few in my bag. I use BPS Stick-os most of the time but when fishing is really tough I will try Senkos-just in case they are impressed by a higher priced offering. Most of the time they are not, but once in a while I catch an uppity one or two that way. : Most of the fish I catch on Senkos or Senko imatations are not dinks. My 2 biggest fish this year were caught on 6" wacky rigged Stick-os. I still get sticker shock every time I pay $3 or more for a jig, or $8+ for a crankbait. My answer is to try to buy on sale when I can and cut costs on non essentials, e.g. I pack a cooler instead of buying food and drink along the way. Instead of buying overpriced junk food I buy overpriced tackle. : I think Bass Pro does a pretty good job. My local one has always done the right thing in my dealings with them and that is worth a lot to me. No, I have not drank the BPS cool-aid :-? just my.02 And one more thing : I paid $2.79 for gas this afternoon > OK I feel better now :-[
  16. I have the HDS5 with Lake Insight and a 5X on my boat and have been very happy with them. I recommend getting the unit with Lake Insight and trying it before you add any software. The detail it provides is good enough for me. These are the first high end units I've owned so my frame of reference is not that great, but I looked around a while before I bought. The sonar graphics are awesome. Good luck.
  17. "It's an arbitrary point. The assumption is, that by age 30, you're too old to know everything, and are thus deemed suitable for civilized company." That may be my favorite comment on this board ever. 8-) .ghoti. you are a philosopher; there are not near enough of us around.
  18. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 Go to the above link and I think you will find all the info you need to make your choice. 8-) Good luck.
  19. Like skillet I have great natural ability in this area. ;D Nice list. I really like the traffic cone idea...
  20. Nice post Roger. The last couple of times together my wife has out fished me also. You two have a couple of years on us. We were married in 1976. A good women is much harder to find than good fish. Well done on both counts.
  21. I've used them for years and never had a problem.
  22. It gives me no pleasure to do this :-[ I agree. I will still root for whoever plays them.
  23. I have an 8'6" spinning rod for salmon and surf casting, and 2-6' light rods that are mostly used for crappie and bluegill, that are 2 piece and I like them just fine. I've never had any trouble with them coming apart and if there is any loss of sensitivity it is not noticeable. On a related note, I was window shopping on on Tackle warehouse's site and noticed that the Diawa Steeze 8' flipping rod was 2 piece; 665$ retail.
  24. If the Pro Qualifier spinning combos are anything like the baitcast this is a fine choice. I use a President 1730 (Pflueger) reel and a 6'6" MF Bass pro Extreme rod. Not the lightest combo around, but a nice setup for the money IMHO. Good luck.
