With or without GPS.....
Add Lake Insight or a program like it to give a detailed look at the lakes you fish and it will improve your fishing experience IMO. Good luck.

You´re not going to believe me ...
I have my eye on one of those inflatable life jackets that auto inflate at a couple of inches of water pressure. Those of us who have reached an age where we are not quite as agile as we once were cannot be too careful. just thinking...

I agree that it's a free country and we all have the choice to use what we like. But dodgeguy has a right to defend himself. I remember the original thread, and while dodgeguy could have been a bit mellower in his presentation, it turns out that the information he provided in that initial thread regarding the strands appears to be correct. Those who attacked him for that information may owe him an apology. Great post senile 1. I was impressed with Bantam1's reply on the earlier thread. When this post started my first thought was 'are we really going to do this again'? Dodgeguy you are not the man I want negotiating peace in the middle east, but you were right. You have the courage of your convictions and that is too rare a thing.

Another need a reel thread
Are you saying it is important to completely stop the spool with your thumb before letting up on the thumbar? Yes.If you have the Flipping switch "on" and make a regular cast, as soon as you release the thumb bar to place your thumb on the spool, spring tension will engage the reel. If the spool is turning the gears will grind. If the spool is turning very fast, you can break a gear in the reel or snap the line when it stops abruptly. On the reel I had the switch would sometimes be turned on accidentally. :-[ It was a pain...The Shimano Castiac has a thumb bar that you can flip up with your thumb to engage the reel. A much better design IMO.

How long have you existed?
BB What is the average volume of gas released per...incident? What is the total volume (in cu.ft.)? Has this had an adverse effect on local/global temperature? Inquiring mines minds want to know.

Staying with only one type of lure to get better with it
One of the main things I've learned by focusing on different lures is that some fishing presentations and techniques are just not for me. I know that crankbaits will out perform most everything else at times on the waters I fish. A couple of weeks ago I caught the biggest fish of a very good day on a 100 series Bandit. We found a huge school of bait fish in a small cove. I caught the fish on the first cast. A wiser man would probably have thoroughly fished that cove with the crank, but I lost interest and soon went back to a jig. I did "swim" it a few times, but my point is if I took only crankbaits along I would, as Roger suggested despise them after a very short time, even if I caught fish. To be a well rounded angler you need to have a working knowledge of as many different techniques as possible. Sometimes you have to do what the fish wants, even if that is not in your wheel-house, but it is more important IMHO to know what your strengths are and concentrate on them. Just rambling... :

Another need a reel thread
I agree with The Rooster. For this application a high speed Extreme would be a great reel. Dan. mentioned the Pro Qualifier as a good choice. A little more money but well worth it for general use, in my opinion.

Re: Pfluger President line twist problem
I have 2 6730s that I use all the time. I like the reels and have had less problems with line twist with them (very minimal) than any other spinning reels I have owned. For the money I believe they are a good value. With that said, I have never fished with any "high end" spinning reels, so there may be better reels available. Just my .02 worth.

First time Grandfather to be
My prayers are with you also. I have 4 grand kids and they are a joy. There have been many challenges along the way, but by faith we've managed to get by. May God bless you and yours.

What should I do about a trolling motor?
A trolling motor that doesn't work properly, or is under-sized can just make you crazy. I agree with saving your money and buying a new unit sized for your boat. You will never regret having more power than you need IMHO.

how do u tell your friend...
Fishing from the back with someone who knows what they are doing (and wants to give you access to as much water as possible) is sometimes great. On a long day of fishing, esp. if the wind is blowing hard, controlling the boat can be work, and letting your partner have control while relaxing from the back can be a beautiful thing. On the other hand, fishing from the back with someone who doesn't know (or care) if you can fish, can ruin the day. Tell your friend how you feel. If he listens and you can show him what he's doing wrong, you both win. If not... Good luck.

Twitching and Jerking?
Ditto. I agree. I would add that for me a twitch is done using my wrist, while a jerk is done primarily with arm movement.

I'm in love with this car.
I'm with you Redline. Perfect. I even like the wheels. I agree with fourbiz though-it would only take a few seconds to straighten the air filter. I had a 72 challenger back in the day. The only car I've ever owned that I really liked. Totaled it and a sweet chevelle in one fell swoop. :'( Makes me sad all these years later.

Flu Shot
I will get one next week. I am am old enough with enough health issues that it seems silly to not get one. Just my opinion. Get one or not; it's your bidness. 8-)

Who has the most ??
I just threw my plastics bag on the bathroom scale:19lbs. :)I probably have another couple of lbs. of "active" stuff in my main bag. If I had everything I think I need, I would probably have> 50lbs total-maybe 100-who knows? : Another question is how much money is invested in plastics? To paraphrase the colonel in "A Few Good Men" I can't handle the truth?! ;D

Bass Pro Extreme Overuns
I have, and use regularly, three of the Extreme baitcasters. Here are my thoughts: (1)They are good reels, but are not well suited to casting light lures. 1/4 oz. is about as low as you can go without problems. Finding the right adjustment for light lures is too much trouble in my opinion. If you have any wind, forget about it. (2)The right rod is a must. (3) Basspro XPS mono is less user friendly than some other lines. I have tried it in various sizes and don't like it. I have had 10, 12 or14 lb. put on all my baitcasters when I purchased them (including 2 Pro Qualifiers purchased 2 months ago) and on 4 spinning reels. I have gone back to Trilene XL on all my reels. I now use spinning gear to throw light cranks, and I am much happier. Good luck.
