  1. Great job bringing newcomers to the sport! Great job on the hawgs you caught today too. The fish Gods were looking down on you and rewarding you for your gracious efforts.
  2. Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
  3. I like the BPS Triple Ripple Grubs. The baby bass color works awesome. They do not have any salt or scent to them, but they catch fish like crazy. I think it is more the action on the tail than the scent that drives them crazy.
  4. A buddy of mine has been telling me about these. What do you guys think of them and what set up do you use to fish them? Any feed back would be great! Thanks!
  5. I am cheap and do not buy the expensive baits. Chances are I am going to lose them one way or another anyway. I do like the BPS Lazer Eye Nitro Extreme The Egg in chrome shad. It is a shallow running crankbait and seems to really work great for me.
  6. Thanks Huntnfish and Locked! It was nice to get the first one of the year. Going out again tomorow to another pond I fish and saw it had no ice. I had some good luck there in the summer, so let's see how it is in the early spring.
  7. Kicked the skunk today during my lunchbreak in a subdivision pond. I was using a Rat-L-Trap in the bleeding shad color. Here is my first fish of 2011:
  8. I just got done reading Bass In Depth by Bob McNally. It is worth reading.
  9. I live in Plainfield, and all of our ponds in the area have been open for a while. There was a point during the thaw that one pond would be open and the pond right across the street was still frozen.
  10. Nice catches Locked! I hope we all start having your luck soon.
  11. I bought some micro crankbaits. They were 3 for $10. I used one the other day and noticed it did not run true each time. One cast they would come in straight, the next cast they would come back swirling. I checked and the line was not caught in the hooks or anything. I thought it was weird, but it happened a few more times.
  12. I was out on Sunday and all of the ponds in my subdivison are open. I was throwing a grub on 1/8 oz jighead, micro crankbait, and a BPS flick'n shimmy worm. I did not have any luck. I am going to try and get out tomorrow during lunch. I am going to try using a beetle spin and maybe slow roll a spinnerbait.
  13. Checked out my Walmart clearance section last night. Seemed like everything in there was only marked down $0.50. They had a lot of stuff in it, so I am guessing, they just put it up. I am going to wait and see how much the prices change in the coming weeks.
  14. Great job! I cannot wait to get out there myself.
  15. My wife tells me I have enough fishing stuff to last me a life time. She does not understand as she does not have a hobby she is passionate about.
  16. I am with you brother. A lot of the ponds in my area are all open now. I just have to get out there and fish. I volunteered to work today and was going to go out on my lunch break, but it is cold, windy and rainy.
  17. My wife has no clue what I have and don't have. She knows I go to Bass Pro and buys things, but she doesn't know about all of my trips to Bass Pro. She doesn't ask and I don't tell. I also have about 20 rods, so if I slip a new one in there, she doesn't notice.
  18. Thanks guys! This helps a lot!
  19. Which website is the best for buying tackle making supplies? I actually want to buy some plastic molds, liquid plastic, dye and glitter. I have visited a few of the sites, but wanted to know which ones were better from the experienced makers. Thank you!

I did a trial the other night with not so good results. I was using a plastic medicine syringe to inject the plastic into the mold. My first set had full bodies, but only partial tails. I decided to try it again and the second time I used more force to inject. I got full tails, but partial bodies. The plastic was sticking to the mold, so I did apply a few coats of straight Elmers glue to the cavities. I need to get a better injector as the one I was using melted during my second run. Have to practice until I get it right. Seems like I picked a hard worm to pour. Should have tried something else besides a curly tail grub. Oh Well, live and learn.
  21. I do not switch. Even though I am right handed, I fish left handed. I cast with my left and reel with my right does not matter if I am using spinning or baitcasting.
  22. I bought one of these and am afraid the legs will get ripped off easily. What has your experience been?
  23. I am with Wanderlust. I think they either crush down the barbs or use barbless hooks.
  24. I love UL fishing. There is nothing like it. Actually, topwater fishing is better, but I love UL fishing. It really tests your skills as a fisherman and it is so fun. Every fish feels like a monster.
