Plastic newbie
Thanks for the great info everyone! Sorry, what I mean by seal is to coat the insides with a sealer whether it be a lacquer or an epoxy. I didn't know if this was necessary or if I can pour without sealing.

Plastic newbie
I have been looking at everyone's hand poured plastic baits and you have convinced me to give it a try. First off, everything looks so great on here. Great job guys! To get myself started I have read articles on making homemade worm molds. I am a cheapskate and decided to go this route instead of jumping in and buying a bunch of molds. I use a lot of curly tail grubs so I decided to make a mold using those. I used plaster of paris as my mold making material. I mixed up the first batch and set the curly tail grubs in the plaster along with roofing nails for alignment for when I pour on the second half. I started with 5 nails, but thought that was overkill and went with 2. I let it set for about and hour. I used vaseline and lubed up the mold and also used some aluminum foil to separate the two halves. I poured the second half and was able to break them apart after letting that half set for over an hour. You can see I carved pouring holes in the top of the mold. I have a few questions for the experts now. Do I need to seal the mold before I pour the plastic in it? Can I melt down plastics I have, but never use? I got them in a bucket of plastics I ordered from Cabela's years ago. My third question is if there is another mold making material that can be used instead of the plaster of paris that might be better. I have seen the fiberglass resin molds, but that looks like too much work for me. I look forward to hearing from the experts. Thanks in advance for everyone's tips and advice. Chuck

Bass getting familiar with my lures?
Try fishing with ultra light gear. Many bass fisherman do not use UL that often, but the smaller lures may help trigger the bass into biting. There is a good article on this site about fishing for bass with UL gear. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Ultralight.html

Favorite Fishing pictures?
This is the first fish I ever caught. It was the summer of 1980 when I was 3 years old, and I was using a Pompeil's Pocket Fisherman. Note the crease lines. I wanted to take the pic to school one day, so I folded it up and put it in my pocket. Here is a pic of my daughter's first bass. She is 4 years old in this pic.

Rattletrap or Rattlin' Rapala?
I very rarely use lipless cranks. I have some, but just don't use them. I think I am going to have to start using them and see which ones work better for me. I have both the Bill Lewis and the Rapala.

Cabelas
I have the luxury of living 20 minutes from the Bass Pro in Bolingbrook. I browse the online catalog and look for things to buy. If I get to the store and do not find what I want, I buy something else. There is never a shortage of things I want from that store.

What have you purchased recently????? 2010
Saturday I bought the River 2 Sea Diving Frog. I cannot wait to use it. My only concern is the legs on this thing. I can see a bass snapping the legs off pretty easily.

Jackal Seira Minnow
By that desription, it sounds like it would be fished like a crankbait. Cast it out and use a steady retrieve on the way back with maybe a few pauses. Retrieving like a jerk bait would defeat the purpose of what the lure is intended for. JMO.

Post a photo a day!
LOL! I was like "OMG, there's KVD!!!" My daughter has no clue who he is. He was running to go do a seminar and told me so after a quick hand shake, but I asked for just one quick pic with my daughter and he was great, he put all of his gear down and posed for the pic. Awesome guy!!!!

I am with you. I cannot even tell you how many hundreds of dollars I have spent since Xmas on new baits. The Outdoor Show was not a good thing because I found even more things I had to have including LD's Diving Frog. For $13, I don't even know if I want to throw it out there. The big thaw has to come soon so I can get out there and fish instead of wasting money buying new things.

Best frog baits
I have tried the BPS Kermy Frog and the Tru-Tungsten Mad Maxx frogs, but have had much better success using Scum Frogs. I went America's Outdoor Show today and bought Larry Dahlberg's Diving Frog and also a frog called the Pad Daddy made by Bizz Baits. The link to their website is below. http://www.bizzbaits.com/
