  1. I've got the same setup, but haven't given it an honest chance yet.
  2. So you depend on the Structure Scan more than the Side Imaging?
  3. Thanks for all the answers so far. I currently have Humminbird 565 monochrome's. You may laugh, but they are very sensitive and show good bottom and fishy detail, and have a fairly big screen for a $200 FF. I'm just weighing the value of going from $200 units to $2000 units.
  4. I'm possibly going to upgrade my electronics next year. Considering the extremely high cost of the newest high tech Lowrance and Humminbird units, how important does everyone feel the sonar is to their fishing success? Rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "I don't need anything electronic to catch big bass", to 5 being "I can do well with a fairly basic F.F. w/o side imaging or any of that fancier stuff", to 10 being "I would sooner fish out of a $500 12 foot aluminum boat with my $3000 electronic unit on board than fish out of a $50,000 BB that only has $150 fish finders".
  5. Left the plug out, several times. Left the trolling motor down several times, once bending the shaft on a Motorguide TM. Knocked the bottom end off a motor on a rock that I KNEW was there. Left a livewell on fill w/o the restrictor/aerator in place. Filled the boat, took the bilge pump 20 minutes to pump it out. Trolling motor set on 100% (thought it was on about 30%), leaned the wrong way and hit the pedal; climbed back aboard after a few moments of flailing in the water.
  6. I have 7 Sahara 2500FD's in the boat; they are a great reel. I can't see much of a performance difference in upgrading one or two steps in the Shimano line.
  7. Try this: "Thank you for your tips on writing a resume. I have begun the search for sponsers, so I will send you a resume for your consideration. Thank you, Easternpafisherman" Everyone should have a second person read over an application/resume for errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Find someone that is an avid reader, perhaps a business person, and over 35 years of age.
  8. Awesome knot and video! A lifesaver for me; I'm new to this braid to leader knot stuff, and this is the first knot I've had any success with! Thanks for the link.
  9. I've got seven Shimano Sahara 2500FD's. Love 'um!
  10. So true. It only takes a few keystrokes to start a rumor.
  11. Must be a poor mic set-up. The camera would show the crowd cheering, but you couldn't hear anything.
  12. Day 2 went much better for Mercer, imo. A little touchy-feely, but much more comfortable. KVD continues to be the fishin' machine.
  13. I assume you are taking about Dave Mercer. He has a fishing show up here in Canada called "Facts of Fishing". He is known for his humor and antics while shooting his show. I definately saw some freshman jitters during the 1st day Classic weigh-in; I'm hoping to see him relax and get back to his old form. He looks like he's been coached by his new bosses; He will make a great emcee if he gets back to the basics that always worked for him.
  14. I should have been clearer; the above is how I consider those that move in near me. If I'm the one on the move then I keep a much greater distance.
  15. A cast away is fine by me, even in a tournament. I don't pretend to own the water. If it's a close buddy, I don't care if we tie the two boats together and make a raft, lol. 8-)
  16. Free enterprise. Don't buy it if you don't want it.
  17. I had a Browning 5wt 8.5 foot fly rod. It was about the best trout rod I've owned.
  18. I had no idea! We always ate trout out of that lake. Why does Harriman/Lake Whitingham have so much mercury?
