Hello Everyone
Welcome to BR Glades. I caught my first 'big' Bass out of the Tamiami Canal 30+ years ago. She went 8 lbs even. I was born-n-raised in Miami, Florida many moons ago. Dan

Huge Florida gator...
Jay: No problem young man. I was upset at the nephew that emailed me the pics and quotes and I was angry with myself for not checking it out. I posted it on 5 or 6 BBs and went back to each of them and posted your Snope's site/info. There are 5 and 8' foot gators in the swamp pond where I fish often though not lately. A few years ago, I was in my little 10'X4' plastic boat at a small lake right next to downtown Macon and here comes a 12-14' gator across the water's surface about a 50 yards away. It had to be 4-5' across its back. Kept my good eye on that critter for sure as it cruised back-n-forth from one corner of the lake to the other. Dan

gary yamamoto's hypalon rods
I have three of his older models and ended up not liking them; too stiff and too few line guides. Just saw on his site where they are still being sold..... :-? Dan

1st Bass on Chatterbait
When tied on properly, your CB will make your rod throb on its retrieve. BTW, I bought a couple more CBs from our local BPS and threw one today. Something was definitely wrong....no throb and the CB was just rolling over :-/ Turns out this batch had paint sprayed on everything, the clip, blade, jig eye, and hook instead of just the jig head. I 'worked' the blade, clip and eye until the paint was rubbed off. Then it worked right. Dan

Swimbait Rig
I use a 7', 6" Kistler Extra Heavy or Heavy LTA Helium for my Matt's baits with a Calais 200 reel. For the heavier swimbaits, I use the Okuma Heavy swimbait rod and a Calcutta 300 reel. Dan

Short strikes and too much hook!!!
My first swimbait Bass came on a Matt's Bluegill with an added belly-treble hook. Since then, I've fished them without a belly hook, just relying on the stock, dorsal hook and that hook usually ends up in the roof of the Bass's mouth. I'll take your advice Mat and remove the stinger hook I added to my Huds. Like to see your rig Chris 8-). Dan

Netbait Paca craw?
That looks like a tube in the pic? While I have not tried the craw worm yet I can tell you the jig trailer works very well. Allen Yes, it does but that is a T-rigged Paca Craw using a Florida Gambler screw-in weight. This might be a better angle? I don't think it need's a "remedy". :-/ Dan

Kistler vs. Powell rods?
Here is TT's review of the Kistler Magnesium rod. I've never used a Powell or a Kistler Mag. but I do know about the Kistler company and its commitment to excellence. Dan

Netbait Paca craw?
I T-rig the bigger PCs. If you have access to a swimming pool, pitch a T-rigged one in and watch the amazing action of their pinchers! 8-) Dan

Who has the best Buzz bait???
That's a Honeybuzz Buzzbait designed and made by Vision Lures. Note how they have a hinged hook. Makes for more sure hookups. They also come with an already rusty rivet for great squeaking noise. They will put a big grin on your face! Dan

javallon swimbait?
I've fished the Javallons weightless and as a drop-shot bait. So far, only caught a couple with it weightless. As was said, the Owner(forgive me Sugoi ) hooks are better for this deep and wide bait. Dan
