  1. I live about 60-75(?) miles from Montgomery Lake but I've never been down there. My neighbor fishes the Ocmulgee once in a while but we're 'nawth' of Montgomery Lake. He's caught some nice Bass from it. More about the Ocmulgee. Dan
  2. Absolutely! Dan
  3. I'm with LBH and RW on this: I'm on my fourth pair of that model Sperry You asked for "the best" When I'm in my little Basshunter, I fish barefoot. After all, I'm from Florida! Getting the boat in the water and when I walk the bank, those Sperrys are on my feet--no socks either. I also use them for my "walking" shoes. I walk a couple of miles each day.
  4. TM: Can you reach deeply stuck hooks with the Dbarb and just remove the hook without cutting it.....like you would with a 'normal' pair of long-nose pliers? Dan
  5. I use a 7' Kistler Medium Helium baitcaster for topwater(and other treble hook baits) baits but it's a tad($29) over your limit. I use to use a Castaway Topwater rod. http://www.castawayrods.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SB66-HG40&Category_Code=hg40_fresh&Product_Count=12 Dan

  7. Nice Green Water snake! Use to catch them by hand while wading in the canals surrounding the Everglades. I'd place them in a pillow case and take them home. Dan
  8. Excellent article Randall. Those wily Bass tend to fool me so any and all help is welcome . Dan
  9. Here's a review of it. Dan
  10. I too "take my hat off" to all tourny Bassmen. I can't fish them and would do an awful job if I tried. My ego couldn't stand it :-[. Dan
  11. Don: It was a Swimming Senko in their color #213/Junebug. Dan
  12. Here are some more 'gills: http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d151/lightninrod/2nd%20half%202006%20Bass%20pics/?action=view&current=IMG_0938.jpg http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d151/lightninrod/2nd%20half%202006%20Bass%20pics/?action=view&current=IMG_0925.jpg http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d151/lightninrod/2nd%20half%202006%20Bass%20pics/?action=view&current=IMG_0924.jpg And a crappie; all were caught on that Pointer: http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d151/lightninrod/2nd%20half%202006%20Bass%20pics/?action=view&current=IMG_0911.jpg Dan
  13. Sorry, I didn't. :-[
  14. After going through several digital scales, I settled on this one. It is accurate enough to be IGFA certified and it weigh's down to 1/2 ounce. I've been using it for a year and I expect it to be the last scale I ever buy. Dan
  15. That's a fine looking spinnerbait and Bass young man. Did the job too but you helped out right! Dan
  16. I T-rig mine. Dan
  17. Thanks y'all. I was a little nervous, playing the 6 lber in to the bank but everything worked . Dan

  19. WTG SS! Nice catch
  20. Backatya ! I too love Bluegrass! 8-) Thanks again for the kind comments y'all. Dan
  21. Got there about 11:30 and caught a few 1-2 lbers. Moved around to the wetern side and caught 2 nice Bass on a T-rigged Swimming Senko. a 3lb, 14 oz and a 6 lb even. Missed a couple on the same bait; one snatching it right at the bank and my line broke. They wanted it moved faster today. Caught one nice Bluegill on a Pointer too. The pond had just had 9-10 tons of lime added to it a few days ago. Didn't seem to bother the fish though. 3/14 Same 20 incher 6 lbs even Same 24 incher Bluegill Dan
  22. Here ya go. I have four of them. They are light in weight(will float a reel on the water), sensitive, forgiving, and yet powerful. Dan
  23. That Sugio hook looks nice Dan; it is like a cross between an EWG and an offset wide gap. The hook point is quite a bit higher than the line tie, more similar to an offset round bend than an EWG...should be effective at sticking bass. So you noticed Thanks for looking TN. That hook has brought literally hundreds of Bass to the boat for me over those 10 years. Dan
  24. I've used this hook for 99% of my soft-plastic rigging for 10 years or so. Look closely at the hook point and where it lies in relation to the hook's eye..... GY knew what he was doing. I have never broken one and I've used one for a dozen of Bass before throwing it away. I don't sharpen or form EWG hooks. I change them out. The only hook I'll form is a prong on a treble hook. Here is a new(to me) soft-plastic hook that may eliminate the slipping of the bait down onto the 'R' bend in a standard EWG hook. Dan
  25. I've used it on fluro but not on braid and it works. I use this knot on both and it works...on both. I too dislike the PK and only use it for a drop-shot hook. Dan
