All this froging talk is making me want to throw a frog but I did all last night and Friday with no luck besides one that's it. But u also gotta be watchfull for the smart gals that just suck the frog with out the slash and comotion that makes froging fun. I missed one 2 sundays ago waiting for JF. I'm 1 for 2 with the frog this year

Iv been using yamamoto tube weights there dirt cheap just tie a loop in the end of the line instead of a knot do a loop then loop threw the sinker sinker threw loop and there ya go plus there skinny and u can inter change the weight as desired

Thanks for the squid idea iv never thought of that ill give it a try but I usually rig up a massive crig for cats 1oz or bigger barrel then swivel then leader to a gammy octopus hook

Well the fish didn't die so that's a plus so idk iv always just reeled up and set the hook like yesterday all the others were hooked like they should be I was just curious. But the hook came out with ease just used my stick I cut a notch in for them such occasions

I was out yesterday doing some fishing and I was working a wacky rigged senko with a gammy circle hook and I almost gut hooked a bass it was in the soft tissue just befor its stomach. Now befor I get the "u waited to long to set the hook" speach that's not the case here I seen the bass cruising just under the surface so I grabed the senko pitched it right infront of it bout a foot and bam it hit it like a ton of bricks I set the hook instantly. I didn't wait for feel or anything I was using a pumpkin gycb senko in clear water I seen it hit 6inches under the surface. So time wasn't a factor. I thought circle hooks wernt suposed to do this.

X2 to brian A lot of times they miss and circle back u won't notice cuz there isn't always a big splash the 2nd time but lower rod tip and start to reel till u feel that tug tug and cross there eyes with the hookset. Takes some timing and getting used to every year I miss my first few frog bites cuz I get exited by the splash and yank to fast.

I only fish public access sites from the bank and I'm always catching decent fish for NYS standards this year has been a little slower but with that I'm still getting decent fish. Where as last year id catch 5 dinks for every 3-7lber and id catch 50 in a day total. I'm still few dinks for every good bass this years biggest is 6lb mark with a few 4s and 5s. My total is about 100 bass this year to 500+ last year. Its just slow this year. But public waters can be some of the most over looked spots. There's 1 pond I fish called wal mart pond because its at the end of there parkinglot. I see ppl there everyday always panfish fishing for dinner. I get asked almost everytime I'm there " are there really bass in here?" Because obviously I'm not bluegill fishing with a revo and veritas. But I pull sevreal 5+ bass out of there it just takes extra work and really realy long casts lol. As a matter of fact this years PB came from there in april right after ice out.

My father in law always says its divers putting fish on id like to see divers man handling sharks and muskie underwater to hook them in the mouth with all them teeth. He says the same bout hunting shows that the bucks are released from a pen right under the stand. Rigged hunting shows are a lot more believeable then fishing that's for sure especially pike and muskie shows or deep see shows.

I was just on yahoo and seen Ryan Dunn from jackass drove his 07 porsche off the highway bursting into flames him and a passanger were both killed.

I catch pike all the time there agressive towards lures and such the bigger ones I get which ain't that big 32" tops are more calm and relaxed like u see on tv. The small dink ones are fiesty out of the water and in but not so much id be scared of them I swim and wade in waters loaded with them even tried grabbing them from the shallows when younger they spoke easy and never try biting my toes or anything even when dangling in the water over the canoe. Now iv had pike come grab lures dangling over the edge not even in the water but never fingers or toes.

The one buy me never has anything but med and light action in anything and I like mh and h rods cuz I have tons of light action rods

Don't feel bad bout the fish throwing the hooks I think iv had more fish throw a crank bait and a spinner bait out this past 2 weeks then iv had my entire life. I lost like 5 bass on the side of the boat out in the erie canal the other week and same thing when bank fishiing always lipless cranks or my spinners

How do u pick where to go fishing. I live surrounded by waters to fish but its almost a curse I can never pick a spot. When I do pick a spot I feel like maybe its better else where some times I spend more time driving to spots then I do fishing. Ill give a low down of a few of my spots all withing a 15minute drive from eachother. I'm going fishing tomorrow and Tuesday and will be trying to decide where all day when at work. Back yard pond - 3 acre pond shaped like a doughnut. Not to sure bout depth or species I know bass and carp as iv seen the carp and caught a few bass. We just moved here in feb and haven't gotten to check it out much. "Middle" section of oak orchard river- this is from lake alice to the dam on glennwood deeper river fairly wide for around here lots of structure. So far this year its gave me a handfull of smallies on my lunch break. The only down side is the current but it should be slower now that the dam on lake alice is fixed and operational. Glennwood lake- small lake with a dam on one end water falls on the other. Fairly deep lots of bass and toothy pike and walleye. Fishing hotline is reporting good catchs of bass and pike. This year its only gave me 5smallmouth but I don't hit many spots or the best wich is under the falls. Lake alice- biggest lake on the oak wich is fed by glennwood this year its given me to many bass to count but only on a few days a lot of days I was skunked. Very deep lake with some flats and points I can acceses from the bank. This lake also has some vegitation unlike the others mentioned. There is also a river arm that comes off the side wich is where I went Friday getting 4 bass and a pike this is also where me and j francho fished and I think I caught the same 4 bass and a pike. There is also the inlet for the dam on the far end that has always produced well in the past. Lake ontario- simply put docks from the banks and tons of marinas and coves Alabama swamps "upper" oak orchard river- this is the stretch of river and swamps from above the falls on glennwood till idk where haven't rented a kayak. This is normally very weedy and known for big bass and pike. I haven't fished it yet this year. Thats all of the oak from where it starts at lake ontario all the way up Then there's johnsons river system which is smaller Above the falls in lyndonville- deep river channel very weedy on the edges in the wider spots and on the channel its lined with big logs and stumps and brush ranging from 6ft deep to 15 in the channel. So far this year its got me like 10 pike and just as many bass. Below the falls- shallow rocky river bottom loaded with smb bull head and carp. Nice public spot but not many people fish it for bass actually almost no one iv onle seen 2 other people go for bass here in the last 3 years. Iv got maybe 20 smallies out here this year biggest being 2.5 not the 5s and 6s I got last year but still smallies. So where would you fish or go about picking spots all are from the bank but above the falls in lyndonville I have a canoe I can use in that spot my buddy let's me borrow

Senko I'm 8miles from the ontario coast I have oak orchard river in the back yard with glennwood 2 minutes down the road wich is the 2nd resivor on that river system and lake alice is 15 minutes down the road the other direction wich is the 1st and biggest both are loaded with smb and lmb pike and walleye all good sized fish to. Alice produced a 8lber lmb last year. J came out last weekend it was a tough bite but we both caught a limit with a kicker pike he had the biggest bass though a 3lber right at the end befor he had to go.

Lund I didn't mean anything like that I jump at every chance I get to see my dad I shoulda been more specific about who I wish I was fishing with. I would give anything to get my son and dad on the water to fish today. Every weekend my dad had me when I was younger was spent fishing but me and my father haven't gone fishing together in almost 10 years. He's in a wheelchair and his diabetes has got so out of control his feet and legs are swollen and pretty much dead he's having his right leg amputated Thursday that I took the day off for.

I wish I was going fishing tomorrow but I'm not were going to see my pops in the morning then dinner with my wifes dad but I get to go fishing Monday and Tuesday the wife says

I'm 45 min from rochester 45 min from bufalo smack dab in the middle and surrounded by great fishing waters

The islands are great all my co workers go there its 2 maybe 3 hour drive from my place but iv never been there same with erie 1hr away but never been both are great smb fisheries with huge fish. I get 6lbers out of my little tributarys I fish off of the lakes

I got 1 on a buzz bait last Sunday at 5am in a rain storm but it don't count for sure he blew up on it and the hook got her square in the gut no where near the mouth it was in the 2 lb range. Its getting better though at least here the bass spawned super late last week Sunday they were bedded and really inactive yesterday they were chasing cranks and spinners some commited not many I went 4 bass and 1 pike in 3 hrs of fishing. There getting back into routine plus lilly pads and grass are just now sprouting here 2 months later then last year

Finaly got one on a snag proof boss rat I didn't measure it because it was a mer 1.5lber and that's pushing it lol

I went to the one in rochester wich blows there staff are idiots and they have now organization of lures or baits really its all just kinda sporadic same with there rods. The one in buffalo on the other had is amazing they got tons more its easy to find stuff and there staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The guy in the rochester one didn't even know what a slider head was or jackall worms when I asked him about them he said he never heard of either befor. Last night I tried a fluke on a spot remover jig head the blue gill loved it but no bass they were hitting a white spinner with gold and silver willow blades and 1 to a frog first frog fish of the year. I think the fluke woulda worked if I could of found some beds but all I found was bedded gills.

Zoom by far IMO iv made 1 fluke go 20+ bass with pike in there as well but all my zoom plastics hold up far better then any other brand

I'm the only one in my family with out diabetes every one has it in some form but me I should be more careful but I'm not and with all the bread I eat I should be as big as a house but I'm not I was 205 a few weeks ago I'm triming down now that I'm out fishing and running up and down the rock quarry hills getting ready for deployment to afghanistan
