  1. Don't give up on it. The biggest bass I have caught have been on jigs. Heres a video I made explaining what types I use in different situations:
  2. No problem. The CX is a little more light weight but it is more manageable on the spool, and the CXX is a heavier duty line with more memory. I use the CX for crankbaits and the CXX for flipping. I haven't had issues with either.
  3. Yes. Im assuming thats what he meant
  4. I have more of the 2.5's but there's a time and place for both sizes. I'd rather throw the larger one if I have a choice, just easier.
  5. Paul, what do you think of a carolina rig in cold water conditions like that? I'm thinking that you can cover a lot of water with one looking for where the fish might be wintered, plus you can drag it real slow. Maybe with a fluke on it or something like that?
  6. I own both, they are both fantastic reels in their MSRP price points. The stx is worth the extra $ IMO because of the features. Durability wise I think they are both high quality and with the proper care you can expect many years of hard fishing from them no problem. If the guy asked if he should buy a shimano, or even used the word shimano in his OP then I would answer with something relating to shimano. That however is clearly not the case. Why doesn't this forum have a sub-forum just for all the shimano guys to go and talk about how fantastic their equipment is? I think we would all get more laughs and then it could be separated from the actual useful information on the board. win-win.
  7. I just fish near a school of carp for this same desired effect. Keeper fish: senko Kicker fish: jig
  8. Abu reels and abu rods for casting gear. pflueger reels and fenwick rods for finesse spinning stuff. and a few bps' utility reels for backup.
  9. That was exactly what I meant by that. Sorry should have been a little more clear. But ya if the water is high and your trying to sneak under a low bridge or something you are SOL with a talon. the power poles easily get outta the way.
  10. depends if you are going underneath low bridges...ever
  11. My father has his musky rig set up so that the truck's alternator will charge the trolling batteries. It's a pretty slick setup, doesn't take too much complicated wiring from what I understand. Usually requires a 7 pin connector though.
  12. I think you can get one or two more in there...
  13. The way I look at it is this: The only really important thing to me is to be efficient, and the only way to be really efficient is to have everything I need and nothing I don't. Everything I need is quite a bit of stuff, and so I don't beat myself up over organizing it. Stuff I don't ever use has no place in my boat, as long as things are clearly labeled, clean, and in good condition thats all the organization I need. You might look in my boat and say I am nowhere near a minimalist, and thats because in my mind being a minimalist doesn't allow me to be truly efficient.
  14. I think P-Line comes in green tint. Also a pretty good copoly that I've used
  15. Don't think I would enjoy driving an 18' Nitro with a 115 on it. That is probably going to be a dog out of the hole.
  16. Bed fishing is shown to have no effect on the amount of age Zero bass at the end of the sumer season. The critical point in a basses life is somewhere between it hatching and the end of the "summer". Up here in WI most fish are naturally culled through the winter months. Anywhere from 2-20% of the age Zero fish make it through their first winter anyhow. This is one of the biggest reasons guys want the bass season extended to an all year fishery here, and it makes sense.
  17. Ya ok... not gonna scam anybody here champ. That thing looks pretty beat for only an '07 IMO. I agree with AFoster, I'll take it for 10k otherwise too much risk.
  18. You wouldnt have to block a channel for 8 hours. You could televise the last 3-4 hours of fishing a day up until weigh in. And supplement the broadcast with higlight clips of the morning if not much is happening. That doesnt seem to far fetched to me.
  19. Ya when I saw your post about the new boat i was really impressed by it being targeted towards musky fisherman with the livewell. Then i saw how short the rod locker was... Tons of storage but a foot longer rod locker could be the deal breaker for guys that are serious about muskies (my father).
  20. I really dont think it would. If they switched from angler to angler often enough with some decent commentators i would think it couldnt be possibly more boring than golf.
  21. Also wondering this... Coincidence..
  22. I bought a navionics premium hotmaps chip for my elite7hdi. The chip was defective and after 2 weeks of unanswered emails and extended phone calls i finally got aneew one shipped out. Needless to say i am not impressed with navionics customer service what so ever. Hopefully this chip works...
  23. I just ordered the 7'8" M rick clunn wright and mcgill reaction deep crankbait rod. Got one for 18$ through my TW sponsorship so i couldnt pass it up. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with this rod? Is it decent quality?
