  1. Wright & McGill Rick Clunn S-Glass reaction rod. on sale at TW. I've got the 7'8", sweet rod.
  2. I can only cast one frog at a time.. And I've sure caught a lot of fish on that one frog. I think one will do you just fine for starters. Don't go spending 35$ on 4 SPRO frogs until you use one, and decide whether or not you like it.
  3. Lowrance elite 7hdi is a great unit in that price range as well...you get a 7" widescreen as well as gps, 2d sonar, and DI
  4. those grips will ruin the original grips finish after a little while I've noticed.
  5. Thanks for the laugh. Not much of a contribution to helping the OP... I would have to say that short of taking the reel apart and using the schematic to get it back together perfectly while checking any parts for abnormalities, bring it to someone who has opened a few reels. Sounds to me like something is misaligned or bent.
  6. Mine is in my garage. fits nicely. the truck gets parked outside lol
  7. In Wisconsin the catch and release rate for Largemouth and Smallmouth bass is well over 90%. I would guess it's like that most places nowadays, because of the CPR mindset. If you want to maintain a good fishery some fish need to be removed. Whether it is a pond or a lake or a river, fish need to be harvested if you want a larger average size. Especially in the overly fertile waters here. I have no problem with people keeping their limit of bass, as long as they are within the law. Will I keep a limit of bass? No way. Why? because I catch my fill of walleye, perch, crappie, or northern when I want a fish fry. That's a lot better eating than bass IMO. I've fished tournaments where there are people waiting at the launch for us to release our fish, so they can try to catch them. I've even been asked if they can have my 5 fish bag. To those people I say (___) off, go catch a carp. To the OP, I don't think I would be going around wrecking people's gear because your a little upset about 5 bluegill... get real man. If your that angry, call the warden.
  8. Well I fish on the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point team. I'm a senior there. It doesn't require any of those things here. Show up to the meetings and pay the dues ($). Whether or not you have a boat makes a big difference. If you do you can fish the club tourneys, if not you will have to be a nonboater and find a partner. You earn points in the club tourneys and thats how you qualify to travel and fish some of the bigger tournaments. UWSP has a club with a LOT of good sticks. Ranked 7th in the country last year. Lot of competition, even here in the state. We fished the midwest open in Madison against UWW and UW-Madison last fall and placed very high. I went to Whitewater my freshman year and fished on their team for a season. No offense, but they aren't on the same level as the guys at UWSP. It's a lot more serious up here in comparison. I'll be traveling to Fort Madison Iowa at the end of may for a BASS tournament. We've sent quite a few boats down south already this spring and all have placed well. Good luck.
  9. San diego jam knot. Double san diego jam knot. Best flouro knot there is imo. Shaw grigsby uses it i know.
  10. Spinner bait, chatterbait, crankbait, swim jig. In that order.
  11. I use 2$ clear plastic shoe boxes from kmart. Holds 25-30 bags of plastics each.
  12. My buddy has that exact same boat and outboard rig. We fish tournaments outta it often and his runs out in the high 50's top end. Its a pretty solid rig, weve beat it in some pretty nasty water before (green bay) and it held up well. I wouldn"t hesitate to buy a skeeter of that age after ive looked through it. They fish pretty well, front deck is a little narrow but other than that, no complaints. 4500 is a fair price.
  13. Fish the havoc plastics. They are cheap and have a great selection. I bought pit bosses from BPS for 1.29 a pack during the spring sail. Then berkley had a mail in rebate. All said aNd done i paid 88 cents a pack! If that aint cheap enough for you, your in the wrong sport.
  14. War eagle spinnerbaits, hand tied jigs, rage tail and havoc plastics.
  15. How do you work a lipless crank in water that cold?
  16. I'm with this guy. Im praying for 45 and rain just to get the d**n ice off the lakes... And while its a 105 and 100% humidity down there in south carolina, its 100 and 90% humidity here in August. Not much difference come that time of year.
  17. I have a mixture of gen 1 and gen 2 SX's. I do swear by them. Fantastic reels. More durable than any I have owned. Jury is still out on the gen 3's though.
  18. That's what I've been calling the 20 twist lose my lure knot! (only cuz I can't ever get it right...)
  19. I hate those glue sticks, never been able to get a rod tip to stay attatched after using them. What I do is sand the blank just a tiny bit and then use 5 min quick set epoxy. Mix it and put some on the blank tip, slide the tip on and hold straight. Then I wrap braided line or thread as tight as i can around the joint, and cover with a layer of epoxy. Spin the blank with your hands until it sets. Looks brand new after you've done a couple. takes 15 minutes.
  20. x2 Revo SX. VERY reliable reel.
  21. I just learned this in another thread: I hear they are whackin' em vertically jigging buzzbaits, and if that ain't doing it then red & white daredevils in the milfoil mats.
  22. To me it has always seemed that the best times to catch a lot of fish are different than the best times to catch big fish. The big fish are big because they are different, even if just slightly.
  23. No offense but you're driving me nuts. It's spelled Bullet not bullett. In your name and in your posts....
