  1. I am OK with calling fishing a sport. Fishermen are not "athletes" though.
  2. Finally someone picks up on it. I was wondering how long that would take, lol What do you call a Somalian that takes a crap? A bragger
  3. Me too, but hot Apple Pie w/ vanilla ice cream for dessert
  4. Pistachios I am not a fan of eating things on the water that have to be done with your hands. For one, hopefully they have fish all over them. Secondly, I need my hands to fish. Now sometimes I do pack a sandwich for the ride home.
  5. Often times it's a deciding factor between 2 alternatives for me. I try to buy American as much as possible, but I will not buy an inferior product just because it's made in the USA. For example, the other day I was buying a new pair of shoes. There was about 3 pairs I liked and couldn't make up my mind. I looked where all were made. Only one was made in the USA. That was my deciding factor, even though they were the most expensive out of the 3 by about 15%. So I guess my answer is yes and no.
  6. That's what I was getting at. The one you got is a Type V. To be legal it must be worn at all times. The one I have is a Type III. Legally I am OK if it is just in the boat. I like that because I only wear mine when the water is sub 60*, windy, or at night.
  7. One thing to consider ...... In terms of boating laws: I originally got the one you got. It's considered a USCG-Type V floatation device. In order for it to be considered a life preserver it must be worn. Just laying in the boat doesn't count. If you plan on wearing it at all times then no big deal. So I eventually exchanged it and upgraded to the Guardian Tournament 3500. It's about $50 more, but it is considered a USCG-Type III floatation device. It does not have to be worn to be considered a life vest. Which I personally like. Just something to consider. Can't help you out on the difference on the Mustangs vs Cabelas. For what it's worth I tested mine out last year and it worked like it should. Put me face up.
  8. Polo Black Acqua Di Gio Gergio Armani Abercrombie Woods (I bought a big bottle when I was a freshman in high school. Still have it. Still like it )
  9. Yes I have had that happen before. I usually had to put the beer down, go to bed, and when I woke up things were usually back to normal. ;D BTW - I have and have had a few different Costas ... never had what you are talking about
  10. Nice! Close to 30lbs?
  11. Two summers ago ..... Made a cast into some deep open water with a Trick Worm rigged on a spot remover jighead. I waited it waited for it to reach the bottom ...... :o WAIT .... Fish ON!!!!!! I reeled as fast as I could to catch up with it and by the time I did it was almost back to the boat. Soon as I caught up with it I realized it was a BIG GIRL. I tried to back the drag off my spinning reel but wasn't fast enough. I tried to open the bail to let her take all the line she wanted, but by that time she was directly under the boat and absolutely screaming the opposite way. SNAP!!!! Line broke. Never even got to see her. That was the last time I ever fished with spinning gear. I have no doubt in my mind if I would have been fishing with a casting set up that fish would have been landed and I wouldn't be sitting here wondering. All I would have had to do is press the thumbar and then adjusted my drag accordingly. I just feel way more in control with casting gear. Spinning gear just ain't for me and it took "the one that got away" for me to realize that.
  12. Capt. Kirk ;D ;D Some tough questions on there!
  13. I was the same way until a couple years ago. When I was launching my boat I tripped or slipped (I really don't remember) and the next thing I knew I was in 40* water with no PFD. Luckily I was only in about 3-4 ft of water, but it was AMAZING just how hard it was to get to my feet. Like I said before, your body just doesn't work in water that cold. That was my eye opening experience. Went home, took a shower, and immediately went to get a auto inflate PFD. I now where it at all times until the water starts to get near the 60* mark.
  14. Currently it's 73* and we are under a Winter Weather Advisory for tonight and tomorrow :
  15. A lot of us are starting, or will be starting soon, to venture out on the water for the first time this year. Don't forget your most important piece of equipment. No not that new rod and reel set up or that hot new bait. A PFD!!!!!!!!!!! And WEAR IT!!!!!!! There is no reason with the suspender type PFD's out now not to wear one when the water is as cold as it is, if not at all times. This tragedy happened at my lake yesterday. http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2008/mar/02/fisherman_drowns_windy_lake/ Sadly it probably could have been prevented if they had been wearing life jackets. I am pretty sure I know where they were fishing it it's no more than a stone's throw from shore. With water that cold your body just doesn't work. An olympic gold medalist swimmer is useless with water as cold as it is right not WEAR A PFD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Nice decision KU. I saw on the news last night that a man drowned at Lone Star when the boat him and his friend took on water. His friend was ok but he didn't make it. > WOW I hadn't heard that. ***** I just read the story. Sad. Niether of them were wearing life jackets. With water that cold, a life jacket is a must. I wear my auto inflate at all times until the water gets near the 60* mark. In fact I think this is important enough I am going to start another thread .....
  17. I was debating on whether or not to try it today. I decided the freakin hurricane force winds were too much for my little boat. Seems like that's the way it is in the spring ... get a nice day, but the winds always blow too hard. >
  18. Ahhhh yes forgot all about this. The past couple weeks I watched all the nominees for Best Picture. I would rate them .... 1. No Country For Old Men - reminded me a lot of Fargo 2. Juno - kind of a more serious Napoleon Dynamite 3. There Will Be Blood - kind of slow, but Daniel Day Lewis was very good 4. Atonement - slow chick flick 5. Michael Clayton - even slower until the end
  19. I bet that was one hell of a fight
  20. Technically briefs I guess I don't know how you guys go commando. You just feel so out there
  21. I think I am pretty good at recognizing out of state plates. I got 23, but feel like I could have got more it would go a little slower. :-[ *** 54 the 2nd time around 8-)
  22. Oh man I am in tears right now ;D ;D ;D http://break.com/index/how-not-to-remove-a-tree.html
  23. Not sure what one you are talking about specifically but ..... A few years ago I just bought the one that is a big heavy ring with a few hook thing-a-ma-jigs hanging off it. Attach it to your line and let it slide down. I particularly like this one because it can get your lure back in more than one way 1. It can knock it loose 2. It can grab your lure with the hooks 3. It can grab whatever you are snagged on and either move it, break it, or bring it up These things work surprisingly well. Some times you have to take some time and mess around with it, but you almost always get your lure back. I can only think of 1 crankbait I didn't get back the past 3 years. And that was because the wind was making it a real pain.
  24. I have only used two, Sufix and Power Pro. I like them both equally well
