  1. 1/4 oz Spot Removers with NO PROBLEM. I would have no hesitation going with 1/8 oz baits. But remember the reel is only half the "system". You gotta have the right rod paired with it as well.
  2. There's something about catching bass when it's cold outside. Very rewarding!!! I use the same jig in the 1/4 oz version early in the year. Great jig. Congrats
  3. Any thoughts on Low-Budget-Hooking?? ;D
  4. I used to have 6 of them (down to 2 :-[) Those old All Star Classics like you are getting are fantastic rods. I think they used to retail for $100 and I thought they were the best bang for your buck back then. The Zell Roland Spinnerbait Special was my absolute favorite rod. I literally used it for everything .......except spinnerbaits ;D. Had two, threw one in the drink by accident and shut the car door on the other one. :-/
  5. Or at least tape him to the roof. ;D
  6. Man that sucks about your batteries in your scale with a possible new PB :-[. Maybe a reminder that I should put an extra battery for my scale in my bag. Still some GREAT catching!!!!
  7. I wouldn't put the Banjo minnow and helicopter lure in the same category. The Banjo minnow actually catches fish. It's nothing more than a fluke with a special hook set-up. And I must admit, whenever I see the walking worm commercial it always catches my attention and I could see it working. Makes me wonder if GYCB came out with it what people would be saying?? :-?
  8. MSRP used to be $119.99 I believe Sounds like everything is there. Hell of a deal!!!!! Enjoy ........
  9. ;D ;D Just thought I would share this...... After reading your post and seeing each pic in order with the story, I saw the first 3 pics and I was thinking to myself "Man those are some big smallies". Then I got to the last one, jaw dropped and made my first reply. After my reply I scrolled back through the post and thought to myself, "Man, those first 3 sure don't look that big anymore" ;D
  10. :o :o :o :o I think some of smallie guys might start crying when they see this. Unbelievable!!!!!!! What a day ...... actually make that two days. Congrats on the PBs 8-)
  11. Annnnnndddddd he's off!!!! Beauties!!!!
  12. That's exactly what I was looking at ...... Rainshadow RX7 1C722 If I don't hear anything else, that's probably the blank I will get. Question though ...... Can I build a casting rod on a ISB722 ? Does the phrase "Spin Bass" mean it's a spinning blank?? Thanks
  13. I have been putting mine off for about 5 years now :-[
  14. My #1 bait the past couple years has been a White Sizmic toad (High Floater version) with a pegged bullet weight. The Sizmic toad has a good thin body for good hook sets and with the floater version you can get the legs to dance pretty good.
  15. Hmmmmmm ..... cool water and a big bass on a jig ..... hmmmmmmm Way to go!!! Keep at that jig!!!
  16. That's going to be a sharp set-up LBH!!!!
  17. I just checked on that blank and they have sold out of it. Back to the drawing board Any other suggestions for a 6' blank for jerkbaits/topwaters that is fairly inexpensive (+/- $50 range)
  18. I like it!!!! Portable too ..... I am thinking with all that cork dust flying around it might be a pretty good outside job?? : ;D I got got me set up with a dryer and reamers. After I get "the ultimate economy grip making set up" built I should be ready to start buying components. BTW - Any thoughts on the Lamiglas blank I mentioned above?? I will also need some help with guide sizing once a blank is selected. It seems like that is the only thing I can't seem to find much info about. Especially for spiral wrapping. Thanks again
  19. Congrats!!!! Looks like a keeper!!!!
  20. Thanks for all the info guys. I kind of have my eye on this Lamiglas liquidation blank from mudhole XC72M 6' 1 10-20 lb. ROOT BEER 6 .5 $37.00 http://shop.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Liquidation-Blanks/Spin-Cast-Blanks I think I am going to try to build a jerkbait/topwater rod. I have no experience with Lamiglas rods, so will this fit the bill. Any other blank suggestions in this ballpark .... I am looking for a 6'. I really have no preference as far as brand goes. I just want to have an adequate usable rod at the end. I am not expecting it to be the prettiest thing the first go round .... just functional. But that still doesn't mean I won't shoot for pretty. 8-) I looked at some of the kits, but saw they had preformed grips. I figure I better practice those before "the one" . Now Keith is saying their guides probably not the best for spiral wrapping. So it looks like the kit is out. Also Keith, could you point me in the direction of a turning set-up. I have a drill. After watching the Flexcoat DVD, I can clearly see that's the way to go. Thanks for all the input guys. I am sure there will be more to come in the following weeks.
  21. Thanks Ronnie I was already leaning a little that way now you've got me really leaning that way. I am also planning on all spiral wraps.
  22. I have read a couple books (2 times ) and watched a video and feel like I am about ready to take on the challenge. I REALLY want a new jig rod and am planning to shell out quite a few bucks on a blank. G Loomis IMX MBR844 Should I just jump right in and go for it??? Or maybe ease my way in with a cheaper blank??? I also would like a 6' rod for topwaters and jerkbaits and I am thinking a St. Croix Premier or mudhole has a couple liquidation Lamiglas blanks I would be interested in. Suggestions???
  23. Muddy stole the bus!!!!!!!!
