  1. I have used them all. My Ratings: 1. Gamma 2. Yo-Zuri 3. Sufix Last year I was using all Yo-Zuri. I had no complaints and thought it was a good line. On one of my set-ups I experimented with other lines not really expecting to find anything better than Yo-Zuri. I tried Sufix and thought it was OK, but still didn't like it as much as Yo-Zuri. It had some slight memory issues the more I used it, but nothing too bad. Then I tried Gamma and was REAL impressed with it. Very manageable, strong, tough, and the biggest thing that jumped out at me was it's casting distance. It just seems to keep going and going. IMO it's a notch above Yo-Zuri across the board. I am switching to ALL Gamma this year except for my braid set up.
  2. Yep. Happened to me one too many times. Now everything is backed up on DVD's and I purchased on external hard drive (great buy).
  3. Getting real technical ..... You would have to subtract all the things that displace water like fish, logs, rocks, grass, docks, etc, etc, etc. All those things would increase the surface area thus making the above numbers skewed. ;D ;D ;D
  4. First off welcome!!!!! I think these line are almost complete opposites of each other ..... if that's possible. Fluro is virtually invisible, braid is very visible. Fluro sinks, braid floats. (that will effect the action and fall rate of lures) Fluro generally has quite a bit of memory, braid has zero. Fluro has stretch (the amount is debatable), braid has virtually zero Fluro is weak compared to braid, but so is every other line They both are pretty pricey though. If you can experiment on one set-up with fluro, try it out. Nothing wrong with experimenting to see what you like. Some people swear by braid, some people swear by fluro. It's all about what you want out of a line. I personally think there is a place for each of them and use them both (have one set-up with each).
  5. Couple of my Kansas compadres ........ cgs2004 and Will I've also noticed DD being gone. I remember a few months I posted something about his where abouts and I remember somebody saying something about him being reel busy with work.
  6. Most Important ..... Anyday on the water is a good day so that's the way I voted. I have different expectations for each lake I fish. I fish three lakes regularly ....... Lake 1 - Average 5-7. Many times more and many times less. My goal each time is to try to catch at least one 4+ Lake 2 - If I don't catch in the double digits it is a bad day. (99% dinks though) Lake 3 - Used to be a great #'s lake, but it has got fished and fished and fished and fished the past couple of years. The only reason I go out there anymore is because there are rumors of 10 lbs bass. If I catch two or three I am happy, but I am also usually throwing pretty big baits
  7. No you don't. I gave myself until my 21st birthday to get all the "stupid" stuff out of the way. ;D ;D Happy Birthday!!!!!!
  8. I think right around 10 years or so (When I REALLY started to get into fishing). First one was a Sedona ..... I think. It sleeps with the fishes. : In the "starting line-up" these days I have: 1 Scorpion 1000 Mg (This is brand new and I see quite a few more of these in my future) 2 Curado 200 1 Curado 200B5 1 Castaic Then I have some spinning reels that don't get much use anymore. I keep them around in case my dad, one of my buddies, or a newbie goes along with me: 2 Symetre 1 Sedona 1 Sahara
  9. LBH, It is 872,034,435 gallons of water. 223 acres X 43,560 = 10,149,480 square feet X 12' = 116,566,560 cubic ft. X 7.481 (gals per cu. ft.) = 872,034,435 gallons. Ronnie That's what I was going to say. ;D
  10. Only differeneces are the length of the handle (shorter in the Scorpion) and the 4x4 SVS Braking system in the Scorpion. You can find GREAT deals on the Scorpion on ebay.
  11. http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/starbucks.asp It looks like this rumor is false. I got the above link from a Military forum and many of the members there confirmed it to be false. I figure if anybody would know, it would be them.
  12. I like it too ..... if this is true ..... NO MORE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!
  13. I just added a set up this winter for the exact same purposes. Although I haven't caught a fish with it yet, I have been very pleased with the casting ability, weight, and sensitivity. I got a Shimano Scorpion 1000 Mg (Chronarch 50 Mg) paired with a St. Croix Legend Tourney Bass rod - 6'8" M power XF tip (TBC68MXF) I haven't quite decided on what pound line, but it's going to be Gamma Copolymer in either 6 or 8 lbs test

Well that sucks BIG TIME!!!! Very sorry to hear that. The "art" of shoulder surgery must not be an exact science. I seem to hear of more people having issues (multiple surgeries) with their shoulders including my grandfather and my best friend's uncle.
  15. KU, thinking about trying Gamma this season...I like Yo-Zuri but a lot of memory on my baitcaster in 12 lb. . Do you feel that the break strength is close to what is advertised on the Gamma website? what test size have you used and liked on baitcasters? FD If you like Yo-Zuri, I think you will like this a little more. IMO, it's a step above Yo-Zuri across the board. And yes it's e very strong. They didn't publish those numbers until this year (I think), but I knew when I was using it last year it significantly over tested and was every bit as strong as Yo-Zuri. One thing that really jumped out at me was it's casting distance. Can't really explain it, but it just seems to keep going and going and going. If you try it, I think you will really like it. I only "experimented" last year with it on one general purpose baitcaster and that was with 12 lbs test. I think I will stick with that for most of my set ups, put 10 on my cranking set up, and either 6 or 8 on my finesse baitcaster. I also see this year they came out with different colors which I like.
  16. The looooonnnnnggggg search is over. After trying what seemed to be every line on the market the last few years I have found Gamma Copolymer. I found other lines I liked, but this is the one I love and now use it for everything except my one braid rig which currently has Power Pro but with all this talk about Sufix braid I am going to give that a try this year.
  17. Not bad : ;D ;D ;D ;D Very Nice!!! Be sure to post some pics.
  18. Which one ...... Master, Master fishing, etc, etc
  19. Very Cool!!!!!! Here's a side-by-side. I drew the red line just for a point reference. No doubt that is the same fish.
  20. The video forgot to mention to pack a clean pair of shorts should you ever have to do this.
  21. Let me add ....... SICK!!!!!! SICK!!!!!!!!!!! Is it safe to ***-u-me this is your best day ever????
  22. VERY true, but here's what I use/suggest: (BTW - Length probably the biggest personal preference so I won't suggest that, I personally have mostly 7 ft rods) - Flipping/Pitching - MH power with a fast tip if used for both ....... if just for flipping H power - Topwater (treble hooked) M with a moderate fast tip ..... up to a MH for bigger topwater baits - Finesse - M power with a fast or extra fast tip - Cranking - M power with a moderate tip for most cranking ......... Deep cranks MH power with a moderate tip
  23. I am afraid to check, but I am pretty sure the lakes have iced up around here as well. We had a night or two below or at zero and day time highs in the teens. Time to let "the fever" set in.
