  1. I am not a big NBA fan, but the Nuggets seem dangerous now. Melo and Iverson
  2. THAT'S IT!!!!! Couldn't put my finger on it. ;D Looks like a FANTASTIC day ........ in short sleeves and shorts no less.
  3. Now that's a WR fish story that might actually be believeable.
  4. Very true!!!!!!! ;D ;D Probably a 15 lber. ;D Really though ... I had a day this summer (best overall day ever) where I caught a few 4's and a couple in the 5 lbs range. Then I had "the one" that broke the surface not 10 ft from the boat for the first time and she was significantly bigger than the others I had caught that day. I can still vividly remember her huge bulging bug eyes as she threw my jig right back in my face. An honest guess would be between 7 and 8 lbs, but as always the ones that got away are always bigger. To make things worse I had the whole outing on video tape (including the big momma throwing my bait right by the boat) before I knocked the camera out of the boat in 30 ft. + of water.
  5. Yeah, I went out to Kill Creek and tossed around 1/4 oz spot remover. My first impression was how well it casted. I think I accomplished what I wanted in replacing my spinning set up. Then the sensitivity ....... AWESOME. This is my first higher end rod and I see more in my future. :-? I've already got the ball rolling and decided I MUST improve my jig/worm rod. Back in the same boat though ...... Legend Tourney or IMX??? I would really like to eventually stick with one brand rod for consistency, but the Jig/Worm rod that St. Croix recommends is 6'6" and a prefer 7' especially for fishing deeper open water structure. Their 7' MH is advertised as an open water spinnerbait rod. I am thinking it will be a little lacking in the back bone for jigs. Decisions, decisions!!! I'll get in touch with you this spring and let you know when I start going out.
  6. Pssshhhh .... Me too!!!! ;)
  7. My biggest influence was fishing with one of my dad's friends who used to fish competitively. A half day on the boat with him and it really opened my eyes to a new world of fishing and drastically changed my approach to fishing to this day. Funny thing is I probably learned more from just watching him than him actually him talking/telling me what he was doing. I wouldn't say I actually learned the most from him, but it opened up my mind to realizing maybe there was something to this stuff I see on TV. It just took me seeing it first hand to realize all that stuff you see in the stores work. I used to go into a store like BPS or Cabela's and be overwhelmed by all the different types of baits and thought there was no way in hell a crankbait or a jig or a spinnerbait could catch a fish. (Well I still feel that way about a spinnerbait ) Back in the day I don't even know why I had a tackle box. ALL I used fish was was 7" curly tailed worms with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and the occasional jitterbug in the morning. That was it. If I was feeling real daring I might switch colors Over the next few years I really tried to open up my mind and use different baits and guess what ............ they almost all caught fish. That really got me going and I started reading everything I could find in magazines about different baits and techniques. Then three summers ago I really started to become a pretty versatile fisherman and really started gaining confidence in baits that I never though would have worked in the past. Then I found this place and as of right now, BassResource.com is probably my second biggest influence followed only by time on the water. It's nice when you read about "real" people experiencing the same things as you and really helps the learning/confidence curve. My learning curve dramatically shot up when I found this place, especially the first year.
  8. Exactly, I have caught a couple on a jig, but most have been pitching to cover, nothing really fishing structure. My wife ain't gonna like it but I guess I need to spend more time on the water. Hey I didn't ask you on Saturday, but we need to hook up sometime next year. I am no expert, but I think I could show you a few things fishing deeper structure with jigs out at Lone Star. That bite really starts to pick up around mid June, but your more than welcome to come along anytime. Around mid to late March I usually start going about every weekend or whenever the water hits around 55. I am usually flying solo about 75% of the time so the front seat of "The Beast" (my two man boat ) is all yours. Also I think I recall you catching a PB of 3 something out at Kill Creek earlier this year??? .... well I am 100% positive that with in a few trips you could improve on that.
  9. FYI - I have a room booked at Fisherman's Cove. The chances of me being able to make the trip are very slim now. If there is anybody on here that wants to go but can't find a room, contact me and we can swap the room out. I will hold onto to the room until the first part of February.
  10. Prepare to be steamed again ........ I went for an unexpected swim earlier this year and my cell phone was in my pocket. Mine was much like yours, it would turn on and everything worked except the screen was black. Luckily my dad had a spare phone I could use for the remaining months of my contract. I went to the store to get the numbers swapped and see if I could swap my phone book. Nope, it was against store policy to touch any phone with water damage. Why I don't know, but there must be something to it. The only reason they gave me was it was against "store policy".
  11. 1. Sammy 2. Pop R 3. This position is available and changes from day to day and season to season
  12. Do you realize you have a ghost/angel/something holding onto your shoulder in that first pic.
  13. I think LBH might have tried this last night.
  14. This is something I think about a lot too. Someone posed a very similar question to the Bass Professor. I hope it's one he answers.
  15. Hmmmmm ..... That intially crossed my mind and thought maybe it centered on your region, but the friend that brought it to my attention lives in Florida now. Kieth is from Florida as well.
  16. I am not real sure, but it's probably in-store only.
  17. Oh I am well aware. ;D I went out there today and they hardly had any Legend Tournaments and none the model I want.
  18. Avid hasn't replied yet. I hope he's not getting shy/embarrassed on us.
  19. There ya go. Thanks again. There was also something wierd with the email. Like it wasn't the one listed on the website or rod or something like that. The one you provided was the right one. I was doing some digging and couldn't find it. :-?
  20. I had a similar experience last year. My issue was eventually resolved, it just took some time. I had the insert of my tip top guide fall out of my TAS. I called the customer service number and explained that I wanted a tip top guide sent to me and I would replace it myself. The response I got from the idiot on the other line was send it in. Then I tried to explain to him that all I needed was the tip top guide and I didn't want to pay the $20+ to ship it plus the $30 bench fee (or whatever it is) for the part the can't cost more than a couple dollars. Still he insisted I send it in. I got sick of dealing with so I hung up and called again to try to get somebody else. Same guy. Hung up called back a few hours later .... still him. This time I disguised my voice and still got the send it in response. I posted my experience on here and somebody on here (don't remember who) gave me an email address of competent lady. She took care of it. Sometimes it takes a little trying, but usually you can get a hold of the right person who will take care of you. I will try to find that old post and that email addy.
  21. I have the same kind of boat as you. I posed a similar question last year. I got sick of the horrible portable I used to have and after many recommendations I opted for the Eagle Fishmark 320. I have been extremely pleased with it.
  22. Yes, very sad news. I think people outside of the KC area don't know just how much he is resposible for the way the NFL is today. If it wasn't for him, the NFL could look muck like the MLB of today. It's a great loss. I was around him one time during an interview on the news and it was hard to believe that this little soft spoken man was such a big influence in the NFL. I have a feeling he was one of those guys who didn't say much, but when he did everybody listened and what he said carried a lot of weight. A strong silent type.
  23. By themselves ...... on a jig head They are my personal favorites to use as trailers on jigs.
  24. That's what I was hoping for too, but I guess we'll have to take what we get. 10ft is starting to scratch the surface though.
