  1. Years ago I was fishing for catfish with doughbait. There was a cat swimming up to the bait and a largemouth came out of nowhere and grabbed it from right in front of the catfish. When you're hungry you don't get to picky about what you eat.
  2. The bait moves slow but the bass pounce on it. If I don't get a bite by the 3rd count I bring the bait back in and cast it somewhere else.
  3. Over the years I have learned that it's best to steer clear if they have a bunch of name brand items in a bargain bin.
  4. I know guys that freak out if a water snake swims to close to the boat. I wonder what they would do if a gator swam by.
  5. Doesn't sound like a site that is safe.
  6. Deadsticking a 3" BPS Stiko on a split shot rig. I count to 10 and move it a little. Usually the bass will pick it up and take off with it.
  7. If I had a pre-season plan I don't remember what it was. The fishing has been good this year, but I've been having multiple hardware issues. My battery died out on the water and would not charge back up so I had to get a new one. I damaged the lower housing on my motor last month and had to get that fixed. Earlier this month two reels started acting up on the same fishing trip. I have one apart now looking at it, and I have written the other one off. I'm hoping the second half of the year goes smoother.
  8. Spinning Reels - Pflueger Presidents Baitcasting Reels - Currently Abu Garcia, and Shimano Rods - Daiwa, St. Croix, and Bass Pro
  9. I trim the weedguard down and then bend it out and spread it out. I don’t shorten the skirt, but I do even it out so that the skirt is all the same length.
  10. Oh wow. This thread couldn't have come at a better time. I have a 9 yo curado reel, and 2 revo s reels that are 10 years old. I have been cruising around the internet looking and comparing different reels. Daiwa keeps coming up as the best option.
  11. My fish finder has been in the basement all year. I can usually get a pretty good idea of what the bottom is like dragging a heavy t-rig, or a jig.
  12. Nice going!
  13. I use snaps for moving baits, and topwaters. Anything being worked along the bottom gets tied on.
  14. Spinning reel on a 6'6" med/fast rod. Line is 10 pound mono.
  15. Nice going, congrats!
  16. The first time I took my daughter fishing I think I made two casts. She caught about 50 sunnies, and I caught 1. It took me an entire summer to learn how to use a baitcaster. Sometimes I just got so discouraged that I put it away after one cast. Then one day everything just came together and I was casting. Couldn't believe it. I thought I would never get it.
  17. Hardly ever this time of year. From the start of November until say the end of February almost every time. It all balances out in the end.
  18. 2” Sassy Shad, or the smallest original floating rapala that you can find. A 3” BPS Sticko on a split shot rig can be killer in the weeds.
  19. For casting I like Berkeley Big Game.
  20. Jigs, and t-rigs.
  21. I stick with flukes, and weightless plastic worms in milfoil. In water willows I will use a 1/16 or 1/8 weight, and pitch creatures to the outside edge.
  22. I would drag an Ol' Monster right along the bottom very slowly. I have good luck with black with red flakes.
  23. A new PB is the best! Congrats!

If you were only going to catch one bass that was the one to catch. Congrats on the PB.
