  1. Most of the baits that I use have caught fish before. It's more of a gut feeling than having confidence. I might try several confidence baits before one feels right.
  2. Jitterbugs, Cordell Spots, and Storm Sub-Warts are some of my go to baits!
  3. I shop around and buy what is on sale as I need them. The nice thing about these boxes is that you can use them for other things besides fishing.
  4. Just because you have cooled down and re-hydrated yourself doesn't mean you have recovered. Quite a few years ago I got cold and clammy while cutting the grass when the temp was in the high 90's. By the time I got inside I was very light headed. After a cool shower, and a nap, I was feeling better. Later that day I went back outside, and about passed out when the heat hit me.
  5. They want other people to think the fish is bigger than what it really is.
  6. Most of the time I'll take some pics, reapply the sunscreen, eat something, and tie on new baits. If I'm fishing out of a boat I'll start mapping the bottom.
  7. Jitterbug. I never see anyone else using them locally.
  8. Probably crankbaits. Around here frogs are hit or miss.
  9. I noticed my senkos were getting torn up by bass in two ways. The bass pushes the senko up the line when it hits, and then tries to run under everything while you are reeling it in, or the bass shakes and jumps a lot.
  10. I drag a plastic worm with a heavy weight along the bottom. I watch the line to see if the bait does anything funny like drop all of a sudden.
  11. Spinning and baitcasting.
  12. I'd say 75% for baitcasting, and 25% for spinning.
  13. In the early morning I will fish in shallow vegetation. As it gets hotter during the day I start looking for deeper vegetation growing around structure.
  14. You shouldn't have any issues. I use a 3/0 EWG all the time with senkos and stikos.
  15. I don't know if I could fish knowing there was something nearby that could take a good bite out of me.
  16. Sometimes the bait will slide down when you pull it through thick vegetation. Where you reeling in anything with the bait?
  17. I got a bunch of BPS giftcards for Father's Day and they were burning a hole in my pocket. I picked up a new Daiwa Tatula CT, and a couple bags of trailers.
  18. Earlier this year I was fishing off the bank in pretty heavy rain. I was standing on the top of some rip rap maybe 10' above the water. I was wearing rubber boots that tend to get slick on hard surfaces, so I didn't want to try walking on loose rocks. I hooked a nice largemouth, and got it to the edge of the rip rap before it really started fighting. I didn't have a net and I didn't want to lift it out of the water with the rod. While I'm standing there trying to figure out how I'm going to get down to the water without slipping, the bass threw the lure.
  19. We've all been there. All you can do is say a few choice words and get back to fishing.
  20. Somebody told me this about my local lakes once. Saturday and Sunday the bass are very skittish from all the weekend fishing pressure. Monday and Tuesday the bass have started to calm down a bit. Wednesday and Thursday were his prime days to be on the water. Friday is when the weekend pressure starts building back up on the lakes again.
  21. I heard about it on the news. So sorry for your loss.
  22. Eat bananas, drink water, and eat something salty especially if you sweat a lot.
  23. $100-$150 for a rod. $100-$175 for a reel.
