  1. A President spinning reel on a 6'6" Daiwa Procaster-S rod. I have two of them so I use one as a loaner.
  2. I like duo-lock snaps for most topwater baits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and bladed jigs. I have had some issues over the years with cheaper snaps breaking, but since I started buying the better ones I no longer have that issue. Besides picking up moss, the one big issue I have with them is that they can get tangled up in the treble hooks and line. Frogs, and bottom contact baits I tie the line directly to the bait.
  3. Sound like you're going to have a real blast! Be safe, and be careful.
  4. Lately, I have been catching a lot of flatheads and channel cats on shallow running crankbaits. The channel cats have been around the deeper water, and the flatheads have been around cover.
  5. Nice bass! I love it when the topwater bite is on.
  6. Nice ones right there!
  7. Been there, done that. Best thing to do when you start feeling that way is to go home. Get a fresh start on another day.
  8. I usually just wear the top part of the rainsuit, depending on the outside air temp, and how hard it is raining.
  9. That place looks great! Congrats!
  10. If I am fishing around vegetation I usually don't use a weight. If I do, it is a small one.
  11. It's easy to vary the retrieve on Jitterbugs and poppers. You can see what the bait is doing.
  12. Mine was probably when I got spooled. We were cat fishing one time and using cut bait. I got a bite, set the hook, and the fish took off for the deeper water. The boat was pulled up on the bank so we couldn't follow, and with the rig I was using I couldn't turn him. My Dad kept telling me to wait until he stops running, but he never did. I finally started pulling, trying to horse him around and snapped the line. When I checked the reel, I had about 30 feet of line left on it.
  13. I'm glad to say that I have never fallen out of the boat, and I hope I never do.
  14. I used to have a pic of me holding a PB. My daughter had a fit because she was learning about internet security in school, and how people can use that info. It's been the Cards ever since.
  15. USPS has done a few jobs on me with everything from packages to bill payments.
  16. I've used a 10 pound mushroom anchor but it doesn't hold well in the wind unless you are tangled up in the weeds. I like a 15 pound mushroom much better.
  17. Don't get mad, sharpen up your hooks, and get even.
  18. Nice one, Congrats!
  19. Nothing better than picking up a bag White Castle belly bombers and eating them on the way down to the lake.
  20. First I would try working the outside edge of the weeds that is closest to the deeper water. If that didn't work I would start punching.
  21. Sound like a cool trip!
  22. Good to hear! Just take it easy and do what the doctors tell you.
  23. At least it was something that they could fix in a reasonable amount of time.
  24. Sounds like a great time out on the river.
  25. I don't fish for crappie either, but when I take the kids fishing for bluegill I always seem to catch a couple.
