I use a 6'6" H with a fast tip. I like some backbone fishing in heavy cover. You may not always need it, but it is good to have just in case.

I use to fill up my spool about 1/8" from full. I have backed off to about 3/16" now. You just need to play around with it and see what is the best amount of line for the reel.

I fill the spool up with the line that I will be using. When it is time to change line I leave some of the line on, and just put the new line over it.

I use to use a 6'0" all of the time for crankbaits. Fishing from the bank it is easier to carry through the brush and weeds.

Moving baits work better for me this time of year. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and swim jigs is what I use the most. Toward the end of April I start using more plastics.

I don't know. I can usually go into BPS, or Cabela's, and just look around without buying anything. If I go into a mom and pop tackle store and find something I have never seen before, then I have a problem.

And on those days when everything is frozen solid, it gives you some good reading material.

I would say a strong C+. 2014 started off kind of slow, but then it picked up. I was only skunked once, and that was December.
