You can also change up your retrieve. Work the bait slow and then burn it, and shake the end of the rod tip for more action.

Actually, I seem to catch more bass after I put on sunscreen. I don't wipe off my hands so I know some of the sunscreen is getting on the bait.

Water clarity, and the amount of sun is what I go by first. If that doesn't pan out I will start playing around with different colors to see what works.

Seems like I catch larger fish in the colder months, but not as many of them. When it is warm out I see a lot of dinks.

Actually I though I was doing pretty good. Then I lost several jigs on hang ups, ran out of line, decided to get a new rod......... The list just kept growing.

To take my daughter fishing more next year. Seems like this year every time we were wanting to go something came up. We ended up only getting out once.

For soft plastics and jigs I like Med. Heavy, or Heavy if I am fishing in the weeds. For crankbaits I would go with a Med, or a Med Heavy.

My soft plastics stay in their original packages. I keep hook bonnets on my cranks, so I usually let them sit out for a few minutes after I am finished with them so they can dry out.

I think that I read somewhere that if you start seeing turtles sunning on wood then the fish should be getting ready to move also.

You may also be getting bites from small fish or catfish.

I like fish them weightless. I let it sink to the bottom and dead stick it for a few seconds. Then I give it a quick short jerk, and let it settle down on the bottom again.
