Do you ever fish with a lure that has no hooks ? I do under certain conditions.
Around here fishing with no hooks is called letting the fish learn the bait.

Unbelievably Bad Day
Sound almost like some of my fishing trips. At the end of the day, you're glad to be back safe on dry land.

was this a bite - lmb
Sometimes, if you are casting around brush, a small limber tree branch will get caught between the lip and the line tie, It sort of feels like a fish pulling back on the bait until you clear the branch and the crankbait comes free.

Anti-Reverse switch?
Every spinning reel I have ever owned or used has had an a/r switch. The only time I have used it was when I accidentally flipped it without knowing it. I'm actually looking forward to trying a reel without a switch.

Red/Orange Baits
I fish red and orange when the water is murky also. It doesn't matter what time of year.

Well, that wasn't fun

I bought waterfront property.
First off Congrats!! I wouldn't leave that outside. You're liable to come out one day and find it missing and the contents dumped out on the ground.

It's been a while . . . how about some knot talk!
A Palomar knot or a Uni knot for me. Palomar for jigs and hooks and the Uni knot for spinnerbaits, and moving baits.

Struggling!
This time of year I'm happy if there is no ice and it's warm enough to wet a line.

Fishing Ledger
I used to handwrite all of my logs then some years back I transferred them all to an Excel spreadsheet. It was a little labor intensive, but once the spreadsheets were built it was smooth sailing.

Anyone ever lose interest in fishing and have it come back?
I grew up fishing. I stopped fishing in the late 80's after I graduated college. Work and family filled my time. My dad was able to drag me out on the water maybe once or twice a year and that was it. In the early 2000's a BPS opened up near my house and that was big news. Some guys at work were talking about it and I stopped in one day just to take a look around to see what the hype was about. Walking through the fishing aisles jumpstarted my urge to get back out on the water again, and I've been fishing ever since.

We've been doing it all wrong.
The story says the pond was in Alabama. Don't they have gators down that way?

Fishing Ledger
I've been keeping logs for years. I record every trip even if I didn't get a bite.

The Found Lures Thread
Found a Rapala Shadow Rap and what I think is a Strike King KVD Jerkbait. They were right on top of each other over at the lower end of the dam.

Tiny crankbait
The Cordell Big-O comes in a 1/4 oz size. I use a ml or ul for casting that, depending on where I am fishing.

Prescription Glasses for Fishing
I have prescription glasses with everything you have mentioned except the longer arms. The transition lenses turn extremely dark so even with them being polarized it is hard to see into the water. You may also want to ask about the material the lenses are made out of. My lenses are plastic and tend to expand in the heat.
