Managing information on fishing
If I'm watching a YT video and the person starts talking about equipment more than fishing I turn it off. If I think the information is helpful I will try and use it where I fish. If it works great, if not I get rid of it and move on.

What is your most productive technique right now?
Mostly swim jigs, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits.
-
What line do you use for each technique?
15# Big Game - Jigs, heavy Texas rigs, large moving baits, frogs (yes frogs), large topwater baits, weightless flukes, and weightless Senko types baits. 10# Big Game - Small moving baits, jerkbaits, weightless plastic worms, small topwater baits, split shot rigs, smaller Senko type baits. 6# Mono - Drop shot, and small finesse baits. 50# Braid - Punching.

So What is "Backwards" in Your Life These Days?
A few months before Covid hit, my youngest daughter started college. Now she's going to graduate in May. She wants the entire family to come down for graduation. That's going to be an experience.

how much coffee do you drink?
At work I used to drink 4 or 5 cups each day before noon. I gave that up a couple of years ago so now it's straight ice water. Now the only time I have coffee is at home. I will have a cup or two before I leave for a fishing trip.

Fueling up
I always fill it up.

Jon boat must haves
If you can afford it I would get rid of the 30-pound motor and get one with at least 40-pound thrust. If you are on a 50 acre lake and get hit with a hard gust of wind it will turn that jon boat before you know what's happening. I would also go with the suggestion that @MN Fisher made about a 15 pound anchor. I've dragged a 10 pound anchor on the bottom during a windy day. Something else to think about is getting a push pole just in case you run up on top of something.

Any particular new lure you plan to use this year?
I don't see myself buying any new baits this year.
-
Favorite drop shot lure?
Either a 3" BPS Stik-O, or a Zoom Finesse worm.

Ever had this happen?
Around 15 or 16 years ago we took the boat back into a creek channel. There were these two stumps sticking up out of the water and they were about 4 feet apart. I was fishing with a jig, but didn't get any bites until I cast out past the stumps and then dragged the jig back between them. I got 12 bass in about 15 minutes.

You inherit Warren Buffett's estate. What do you build or buy?
The first thing I would do is retire. I'd figure out what to buy after that.
-
Got a line question...what line do you crank with?
I use either 6#, 10#, or 15# mono depending on the bait I am using and the cover I am casting around.

Alternative Spinnerbait Colors ?
Either white or white / chartreuse is what I use 99% of the time. The other 1% is when I use black.

Swim Jig Details
I started fishing with swim jigs a few years ago. I don’t think I have fished with any size except 1/4 ounce. The biggest problem I have is getting the trailer straight. If the trailer isn’t straight then the jig might run wrong. If the jig is running wrong the bass around here won’t bite it.
-
When to use what finesse jig
I’ll start off with a 3/8 jig and if I don’t get bites with that I will usually go down to a 1/8 or 1/4 size. There have been a few times when the bass won’t bite the smaller jig either. Then I try a 3/4 ounce jig. If that size doesn’t work I put the jig rod down.

Winter 2022-23
It's going to be freezing here again this weekend. All of the plants and trees that have started to wake up are probably going to lose their buds.

How far in advance can I completely rig soft plastic baits before using them?
I don't rig up the plastic bait until I'm out at the lake. If I rig up early the chances are very good that I will be changing baits as soon as I hit the water.

Soft Plastics Color : Green Pumpkin vs. Green Pumpkin Magic ?
Green pumpkin, watermelon red, watermelon candy, and watermelon are the four greens that I use. Usually, but not always, the more murky the water then the darker the green.
-
3 inch Stiko
I fish them on a split shot rig, and on a Texas rig. I've never tried them on a wacky rig.
