  1. Esox are more likely to hit flashy baits being retrieved quickly through the mid depths of the water column. I seldom (can't remember ever) catch them on slow dragging retrieves. oe
  2. I only hate the part where I have to unhook them... the rest is a blast! oe
  3. 25 yards seems a little excessive for a bass leader. By the way, I think Trilene 100% fluorocarbon is pretty good line for leaders. oe
  4. Spool it back onto the factory line spool you purchased it on. When you want to try it again... there it is. oe
  5. Pay attention to the line roller bearing, keeping it clean and spinning freely throughout the season. oe
  6. Hey, come on guys... nothing a newly purchased spool/shaft/bearing assembly can't fix. You guys make it sound like the end of the world. oe
  7. I don't know that all spinning reels have a bearing supported roller guide, but I won't buy one without this feature. I clean this bearing several times during the season (more often than I clean the rest of the reel) as it gets gunked up easily and doesn't spin freely. oe
  8. I'm sure in a tournament that would be exhilarating, but I would rather catch them individually and play each one. oe
  9. Just curious... has anyone owned a spinning reel that, when looked at from behind the reel, DOESN'T rotate it's bail counter-clockwise? oe
  10. I would go into my bathroom, look at myself in the mirror and say "what was I thinking to buy a fishing rod that cost nearly 500.00!"... oe
  11. Are the drag washers (note plural) smaller in the 1000 size reel vs. the 2000 size model? If so, look more closely at the larger size. oe
  12. Don't confuse a "bait" with a "technique"... many baits are interchangeable within the same technique. Techniques catch fish, baits more often catch fishermen. oe
  13. In her day she might have done even better!... oe
  14. Locate your fish THEN practice the technique that best accomplishes catching them. You can be quite successful using a handful of versatile fishing techniques. oe
  15. No... horizontal oe
  16. YES!!!... I hate when that happens... I'd been staring at that thing for two days and couldn't remember it's name. Guess I'd better start bringing my GPS when I visit the neighbor... thanks. oe
  17. I'm having a senior moment that is turning into days... Anyone able to help me remember the name of the shallow diving crankbait that had two line ties to enable it to run in the top 1 foot of the water column then a couple feet deeper when tied to the other line tie. It had a body shape very similar to a jitterbug with a small metal diving lip. It ran with a pretty pronounced wobble. Thanks oe
  18. Charlie Brewer's spider jig heads fished as Charlie has written... oe
  19. The one you'll keep in your pocket and use regularly... take a look-see at the Eze-lap model S. oe
  20. I use a file on my barbs... before I fish with them. oe
  21. Yes, the smallies will hit full sized spooks, but some nights a smaller bait will bring more bites. Have a Zara Puppy in your tackle bag along with the larger Spooks. I absolutely LOVE the Gunfish 95! oe
  22. OK, I'll bite... I would like to receive a Pointer 100XD, Pointer 100DD or Pointer 78DD. I have to trade... Muscle Deep 15+ crankbait (Perch color); LC Flat CB D-20 crankbait (metallic Perch color); LC Flashminnow 95 MR (Ghost minnow color); 2- Rapala #10 X-raps ( Olive back & Blue back); 2- #8 X-raps (Blue back & White) I would trade multiples of what I have for each of what I want. Pics available through traditional email ( I have limited tech skills). oe
  23. I prefer fishing round spit rings on my hard plastic baits (and I have used both). oe
  24. I suggest placing the split shot directly in front of the swivel that Snooky suggests. oe
