  1. Are there benefits from a spiral wrapped rod beyond less twisting torque when playing a fish? Better casting? Better vibration transmission? oe
  2. So what happened to all of the conversation about them? A couple of years ago you couldn't read a post about rod building that didn't morph into a conversation about the proper way to spiral wrap a rod (exaggeration, of course). Certainly this style of guide wrapping a baitcasting rod hasn't become mainstream. oe
  3. What happened to all of the love for spiral wrapped line guides? I don't read anything about them lately. Did they fall out of favor with the builders and were replaced with micro-guides? How are the spiral wrapped rods working out for those that tried them? oe
  4. Shouldn't this post and other's like it be in the "fishing reports" forum? oe
  5. filamentious algae grows over everything on the bottom, often to +20' depths... clings to your baits like fresh snot. oe
  6. ODC 420 You will also need: stocking foot waders, scuba fins AND PFD. Although not as often, I enjoy my time fishing from my ODC 420 more than I do from my 16' aluminum boat, canoe or wading! Playing a LARGE fish (bass, musky, cat or carp) with no tether to solid earth is a true rush!!! oe
  7. I'm going to suggest you do, but don't realize it. Smallies will hook themselves on an exposed hook bait often... seldom when the bait is T-rigged. A tube leaves very little room in the hook gap. I know, I'm a heretic! oe
  8. My email to your company got bounced back to me. In it I suggested you change caps on your MegaStrike tubes to a hinged, snap-to-close cap. It would provide easier application for wading anglers trying to juggle tackle while applying your scent. Have a good afternoon. oe
  9. Dodge... How 'bout fixing your font issues. I find it bothersome trying to read your posts written in crayon. oe
  10. Been the route you're headed... I downsized tackle selection. Soft sided bag holding two 3700 boxes along with a couple of pockets. oe
  11. I never thought the jigheads were very expensive from the Brewer Co... oe
  12. hooks are available on the Brewer website oe
  13. ... first you must catch the fisherman. oe
  14. Do you prefer different crankbaits when fishing lakes than when fishing rivers/streams? Other than the obvious depth range differences, what differences are you looking for in cranks being used in these differing environments? Care to offer some examples? (stream -- Wiggle Warts; lake -- Shad Raps) oe
  15. Does the ban cover pre-fishing a tournament? oe
  16. Because sometimes that is all there is... I learn more catching small fish than catching no fish. Don't dupe yourself into believing a 3lb smallie won't eat a Zara Puppy. oe
  17. This surprises me, Nathan. I like to throw a Shad Assassin over a shallow rocky point, reef or bank when the surface is broken. I probably work it a little faster in this condition than "glass calm". oe
  18. Rig many (probably most) plastic baits with a nail in the tail and you find it will fall backwards. oe
  19. Just to satisfy my curiosity, what specific purpose is requiring your line change? oe
  20. I don't know if I'd want to re-use mono, but I do re-use PE lines. I save the original plastic spools that the lines were purchased on and spool it back onto that original spool by sliding the empty spool over a long bolt, tightening it with a wing nut and using a hand drill to power wind it back onto the plastic spool. oe
