  1. I've been having problems with this site for some time now. The site acknowledges me as a signed in member on some boards but will then acknowledge me as a guest on the next board I open. This is entirely random from board to board. Any suggestions how I might fix this. (I'm viewing with Chrome) oe
  2. carefully; subtly; with a light touch... oe
  3. The subtle point of my 1st post above is that "higher end" rods don't always translate to the most appreciated rods by me. Balance, comfort of grip, easy loading of the cast seem more and more to trump higher modulus blanks, and more technical guide trains... at least to my fishing. Often an "old friend" will catch more fish just because I'm used to how it feels and performs. Your mileage may vary... oe
  4. Ice out is within 3 weeks here and I'm selecting and cleaning gear I'll be using this year. As in other years I'm finding that my most expensive rods AREN'T necessarily making their way into the quiver. Higher end spinning rods are finding favor, but middle cost casting rods are being chosen for their over-all comfort to grip and ease to cast. I suspect there are other nit-wits who have bought higher priced equipment only to decide it doesn't fish as well as more moderately priced pieces already in the boat. oe
  5. Hot 'n tots were quick diving trolling baits... terrible casting baits. oe
  6. My only absolute, it must be a casting reel. Line gathers on a spinning reel in loose loops for me when using this technique. oe
  7. Any bass I photograph has to share frame space with my grandkids... oe
  8. youthful enthusiasm... at any age. oe
  9. A few years back BPS was THE place to shop for fishing equipment, now not so much. It's hard to keep the same fire going as when you first started your business. oe

  11. Crayfish around my lakes develop bright blue claws and markings during part of the season. oe
  12. Will... I'm so glad you posted the pic above (beyond my tech ability). As you've shown with the marabou jig, today's marabou is far, far less "webby" to the tips of the feather. I think they harvest the plumes before the turkeys get to a mature age. Of course that's just my opinion. oe
  13. When tying marabou jigs, who among us stacks their marabou vs. palmers the 'bou? I prefer palmering a couple of marabou plumes on each jig, but I'm having trouble finding plumes of enough quality to accomplish more than a few jigs per bag of marabou! I may have to stack a few jigs and compare them to my palmered jigs this Spring. I really hate when ***** makes me change my preferred ways... oe

"finessey" isn't the size or weight of the bait, its how you fish it. oe
  15. "but"... it will weigh more and probably have a higher return rate than a 500/1000 sized reel, which is counter productive when fishing light hair jigs. oe
  16. At our age, I sometimes have this problem too. oe
  17. The Supreme XT I bought a couple of years ago has the anti-reverse bearing not working frequently. I've read of this problem from others as well. I've been going to dis-mantle and clean the bearing, but haven't as yet. oe edit... this thread got me off my lazy *ss and found that reel. Cleaned the anti-reverse bearing in an ultra-sound cleaner. Works as it should now.
  18. ...a little barbaric isn't it oe
  19. In the interest of accuracy, I suggest you delete the above quoted information. oe
  20. hmmm... tell me about this rod's power, action and taper to the tip. My first thought is a MH rod would be too stiff to load with a Pointer 78, but I like the idea of more control of a 4lb smallie than the M power rods I've been using. oe
