  1. You must have a couple of those zip front one piece jump suits hanging around also!
  2. If I'm on my boat, walking a shoreline or working in the yard... Tilley T-6 wide brim, (there it is in my avatar) anywhere else I'm wearing a Green Bay Packers ball cap.
  3. get a cleat for the bow as well
  4. I've got two rods I cut off 1" above the 1st guide that I use when I'm spooling new line on reels.
  5. You're almost there... need a butt seat and gas raised post. Get the seat that looks (and feels) like a granny's bike seat. (That style is easier to stand with it wedge in your crotch.) 5 tie off cleats and a length of nylon rope twice the length of your boat to aid in loading and unloading from the trailer.
  6. I keep mine pretty close to 10' which is long enough to clip the bait and tie on a drop-shot hook "on the fly".
  7. I've not been able to convince myself that an unshielded spool bearing runs "better" than a shielded spool bearing, but I do agree access is easier for mid-season re-oiling. I leave the "access" side of the bearing un-shielded and the other side of the bearing shielded. I'm also not a fan of packing a frame bearing with grease, but use heavy 80-90 wt. lower unit oil. Cal's drag grease has worked best for me packed on gears.
  8. If you have a multimeter in one of those tool boxes, I'd bring it along come Saturday morning.
  9. Do you also buy a new car and immediately change the tires?
  10. I'm fortunate enough to have ALOT of fishable water inside of a twenty minute drive. If you have the Google Earth app, take a peak at Spirit Lake, Iowa... it's not a secret location.
  11. Nothing's been written yet, but I assume you have a dependable fire extinguisher to have onboard.
  12. Thank you to all that write using paragraphs.
  13. A fairly solid sweep set, then never let the rod go straight until the fish is in the net. Large fish I flip the back-reel switch. I see more bites than feel them... when you see something, do something...
  14. Targeting an exact spot I'd like to cast at there is nothing better than a 20b anchor on a short length of rope. If I want to drift along very slowly I'll use a combination of one, two or three of the drift socks I always have with me. The spot-lock is best suited for temporary halts. In all of the scenarios I'm trying to cast as far away from the boat as possible to lessen the considerable commotion I can't help but make.
  15. OP, tell us how the fishing went?
  16. Be extra careful while tightening nylon and fluoro knots not to "burn" the line just above the knot. Don't spare the saliva.
  17. I think you are more likely to catch walleye or a cold until later march
  18. North Carolina is a long way from Iowa...
  19. hmmm... hair jig, Rozante 77, Pointer 78
  20. just the scented plastics... You've been watching Randy again!😉
  21. so, does this mean nobody will be fishing with 4" swim baits anymore?...
  22. ...or just because Pure Fishing now owns them
  23. Put your zippers back up boys...
  24. Clean and oil the spool bearings each year and add a tiny amount of oil to them a couple more times per year if you feel them slow down. The rest leave alone until you actually have a problem.
